How dare you all think you're better than me
Insignificant fools mingling beneath my cold stare
Why do your eyes gleam with loathing instead of admiration
Why do I crave your praise and fear your indifference
Every mockery, every sneer is an icy dagger to my face
Reaching through my veneer of proud contempt
I writhe and shudder, seated on my lavish throne of lies
Undermined by words I know are wrong
Are they? No, I am the best and always will be
Why do my claims sound now so hollow and vain
My lofty pedestal crumbles and I sink
Swallowed by an abyss of utter darkness
I shoot up a trembling hand seeking a friend
And realize with anguish I've never cared to make any
The last flicker of ego die out in my eyes
As yours watch down upon me and strike the final blow
Through my black and haughty heart
