My steam profile's inventory is private due to high amounts of phishers and scammers in the trading community. I want to keep myself and my account safe from 2 of those types of people because I don't want to get scammed/phished (duh). I also keep my comments private to friends only because I do not like it when people I don't even know spam my comment wall for no reason at all. I don't care about steam level cause I honestly think it just makes your profile more "cooler" or something but I honestly don't care how bad or "uncool" my profile looks.
