howdy yall. been playing since rw. no friends but have almost 800 hours. from minnesota but trucked along alot of the us routes and seen lots of cool sights like the gn steam locomotive in havre (bnsf hi line) and the racetrack. also visited the durango and silverton narrow gauge. pacing amtrak from shelby to whitefish was pretty cool too.

Is there anyone who wants to have Norfolk Southern SD40-2 High Nose Loco and can exchange with me for other dlc or game? :)
gjene 12 Dec, 2013 @ 2:36pm
Bought this version over 1.5 weeks ago and slowly getting used to it. Would have preferred to download it and been able to have saved it to a disc before playing it in case I had a problem with the harddrive. Also kind of miss being able to create my own layout based on a local shortline or something from a model train magazine.

@PeachyF : That sounds awesome! Let e know when you're done with that one... I'd love to check it out. Good luck!
Peachy Fennec 26 Oct, 2012 @ 7:36pm
@OmahaTom : That sounds really neat and I might just do that in the future, but believe it or not but I just got a little route i'm gonna do scenery on, its going to be the chicago-L in 1950s-60s, but thanks for the wounderful Idea!
OmahaTom 23 Oct, 2012 @ 3:06pm
@PeachyFennec: Here is an extremely random and (I think) awesome idea for a route: You may or may not have heard of an excursion/dinner train based out of Boone, Iowa called THE BOONE & SCENIC VALLEY RAILROAD. I've riden this route several times and traced it on google earth. It's pretty fascinating to see how the railroad dips into a massive river valley, then climbs back out. At the middle of the line is a massive girder bridge, uncreatively dubbed "High Bridge". The B&SV operate with Steam on weekends, and an old CNW F unit other days.
Gravina 12 Oct, 2012 @ 5:06am

@Union: A nice idea. I'm not sure how well it would work though trying to set up a specific day and time, as you have people in different countries and time-zones, and probably most people that have their Steam-Client open at the time may be more interested in playing a game rather than using a chat-room.

But sure, RailWorkers here can always try using the "Enter Chat Room" from this group anytime they like and see if anyone else is around to chat with. I've tried on occasion to use the chat-room here and leave will leave it open for a while sometimes to see if anyone else joins in, but so far I've never seen anyone else using it when I have.
Ataraxiüm 10 Apr, 2012 @ 10:19am
Just a thought, but how would you guys like to have a weekly chat room session where we just talk about and Railworks and stuff? Of course we don't HAVE to do it, but I think it would be fun. I don't know, what do you guys think...?
Mystix 9 Apr, 2012 @ 9:50am
@Nikel Plate: I assume you mean this addon? http://eo.steamhost.cc/app/24030/

Yes, it works well and a nice loco to drive. Unfortunately it only comes with 1 freeroam scenario, so you might have to hunt-around on some sites that might offer some more scenarios for it, or you could make your own scenarios for it in the editor if you know how.

Mystix 15 Dec, 2011 @ 3:12am
Greetings Drivers.

As a free Christmas gift to my fellow RailWorkers, I've made a little scenario-pack, "RRYard's HSC Scenario Pack 1", which will add two Standard-Scenarios to the Horseshoe Curve route (a Passenger-Run and a Freight-Run).

For more details on this scenario-pack addon and to download it, visit my site at http://www.rryard.com/ and you will find it listed in the "Routes and Scenarios" section there.

I hope you will enjoy them.
Merry Christmas all, and see you on the trains!

So what do you guys think of RailWorks 3 now? I still think it could be optimized better, and It took me a bit of tweaking to get a good balance of performance and graphics-quality, but I really like the TSX effects of the lighting, shadowing, rain, etc.. There's been a few issues I've encountered, but overall I'm enjoying RW3 and some of the new features and improvements.

Picked up the "Horseshoe Curve" route recently too. Really nice little route. Quite scenic in parts. Some nice trains & rolling stock with it.

I'm still working hard on my "Western Wildwood High-Speed-Route" too, gradually it's all starting to come together. You can see a couple of new screen-shots of it over at my RRYard.com site in the Routes & Scenarios section there.

Cheers! :)
