Welcome to the official New Republic Steam group!

It's hard to believe that it's almost been two years. It seems like it was only yesterday that I got the idea to start my own Garry's Mod community. When I started New Republic Servers back in September of 2014, I never imagined that it would last this long. Hell, I didn't even think it would last more than a few months. However, we soon grew into one of the most tightly-knit Garry's Mod communities I've ever seen. I have met some of my best friends on here as well as the ill-fated Sky Rise Servers. The amount of support that NR has been given since its inception is nothing short of astounding. We have received so many donations from generous players. We simply would not have survived if it weren't for everyone's amazing contributions. We've been through good times and bad, but somehow we managed to stick together. New Republic truly has become a second family to me. In the darkest of times, you guys have always been there for me and I seriously can't thank every single one of you enough.

Recently, I haven't really felt very motivated to get on New Republic. This is mainly because the community has been gradually diminishing over the past several months, as I'm sure you all know. I know that many of the staff members and regulars have lost interest in playing TTT altogether. Honestly, I've also lost most of my interest in playing TTT every day like I used to. NR is dying, there's no denying it. Despite many efforts to keep the server alive, we can't seem to keep it active for very long. I feel like this is my own fault since I haven't really gotten on very often and I have rarely updated the server unless it was absolutely necessary. As much as I would love to get on more often and try to bring NR back from the stagnant state it's in now, I'm not sure that I will have very much time or patience to dedicate to the server. School has recently started again for me and that has greatly lessened the amount of free time that I have. It would be incredibly irresponsible for me to continue to ignore the server any longer than I already have.

This is why New Republic Servers will be shutting down on September 30, 2016 at around 12:00 AM EST. The server forums will be shut down about a week later on October 8, 2016. In between now and then, we will have three server meetups. They will be on August 30th, September 11th (New Republic's two-year anniversary), and September 30th. Everyone is welcome so feel free to join us!

Once again, I want to thank all of you for the amazing support that NR has gotten since the very beginning. Without you, we never would have lasted nearly as long as we did. I also want to thank all of our staff members, past and present, for helping keep the server alive and fun for everyone. You guys have had to endure a lot of stuff over the years and I appreciate everything you have done. I am so happy that I have been able to spend the past two years of my life with this community. Every single one of you is a wonderful person and you all mean the world to me. As always, if you have any questions or concerns about anything at all, please feel free to reply to this thread or message me on Steam or Skype.
