What You'll Need:

HLDJ (current version)
dbPowerAmp music convertor
Goldwave or something that can make a sound quieter.

Converting the Files:

1. Find music things
2. Download ♥♥♥♥ above
3. Open HLDJ and have it automatically find your games, if it doesn't manually find them in the steamapps folder. Go to options and set a button to play the music
4. Move away from the mic to breathe
5. Now, open dbPowerAmp after installing and convert your music with these parameters.

For Half-Life 1 Engine: Wave file:8 bit CD: 8000Hz:1"MONO"

For Source Engine: Wave file:16 bit CD:11025Hz:1"MONO"

after this you should be able to hear the music ingame.

Fixing highly bass songs:

For highly bass songs (IE: Techno. Metal) quieting them down is a must, otherwise they'll go overboard and sound like ♥♥♥♥. Most music editing programs can do this, I'd highly recommend GoldWave with a regkey, as you can set bass boost and turn songs down easily, which makes them sound better than just turning them down.

For GoldWave: Open a song, go to Options-Equalizer and turn it down to -5, this depends on how bassey the song is, you want the sound waves to not go over the top or bottom of the little screen.

Getting the music ingame and playing it:

1. Make sure all your music files are in one folder and have HLDJ's audio directory be that folder, in your HLDJ settings.
2. Turn on Console in the game, you're going to play music in, by right clicking it, clicking set launch options, and typing -console.
3. Make sure the game is selected in HLDJ, click the big Play button. If required start the game, it may however automatically start.
4. When you're ingame join a server
5. In console: type "la" to look at the music files you have.
6. Next to the files should be a number, type the one you want to play in console.
7. Press your play key when not paused and the song should play.
8. Some useful console commands are these.

hldjn - automatically load the next song in your folder

hldjp - automatically load the previous song in your folder


I'd recommend binding them.

To convert youtube videos to mp3, download them through an internet site that converts them, than convert them as stated in the DBPowerAmp section.
