Week 51
Yerûšelem
(Industrial Metal/Post Metal)

Country: France
Albums:
  • The Sublime (2019)

Side project from both Vindsval and W.D. Feld of Bult Aus Nord. This project honestly doesn't differ much from what the main band was doing at the time. The industrial and post metal sound is very very similiar to that of the 777 trilogy of albums Blut Aud Nord were doing at the time.

Lard
(Industrial Metal/Hardcore Punk)

Country: US

Albums:
  • The Power of Lard EP (1989)
  • The Last Temptation of Reid (1990)
  • Pure Chewing Satisfaction (1997)
  • 70's Rock Must Die EP (2000)

Features the classic Ministry line up with Uncle Al, Paul Barker and more during this timeline along side Ministry. Lard is like a hardcore punk/industrial metal fusion of Ministry.

War Pimp Renaissance (Pure Chewing Satisfaction)

Generation Execute (Pure Chewing Satisfaction)

Both bands are not active or at least I think they are since there hasnt been anything new or any word on Yerûšelem. If you love what you hear, place support the main bands and check them out in case you haven't.

Week 50
Mortal Decay

(Brutal Death Metal)

United States, New Jersey

Albums:

  • Sickening Erotic Fanaticism (1997)
  • Forensic (2002)
  • Cadaver (2005)
  • The Blueprint for Blood Spatter (2013)

Mortal Decay are a Brutal Death Metal band from New Jersey that played a very important role in establishing the Brutal Death Metal sound, despite not that many people knowing about them.

"Grisly Aftermath" is my personal favourite of their work, an EP released in 1993 that is very playful and has great songwriting. The vocals are reminiscent of finnish band Demilich, and to this date I consider it one of the best Death Metal EPs there is.

"Sickening Erotic Fanaticism" is their second best release in my opinion. That album went down the Brutal Death route and is a fun listen, although one can probably find that style executed better nowadays.

I'd say you should only really listen to the rest of the discography if you're a huge fan of the band, otherwise you can probably spend your time better exploring other releases from peers.

Great Death Metal from the early 90s.

Regurgitation

(Brutal Death Metal)

United States, Ohio

Albums:
  • Tales of Necrophilia (1999)

Another important band for the Brutal Death genre, their demo "Conceived Through Vomit" is a very influential and important release that helped to popularize the genre in the United States.

I think "Conceived Through Vomit" is their best release but the output this band had was relatively small, so there's not a lot of material you can listen to.
What's noteworthy with this band is that I consider their style to be a driving factor for shaping the Brutal Death Genre of the late 90s and early 2000s, with bands like Gorgasm or Disgorge and peers showing traces of their sound in their music. Of course there's no way for me to tell for sure without asking the band members but I believe there's strong similarities in songwriting beyond the genresimilarities.

"Tales of Necrophilia" is a great full-length for its time and a very strong listen throughout its entire playlength. The opener and "Cadaveric Impregnation" are probably my favourite tracks from the release, if you're inclined to try it out.

The Demo is almost a mandatory listen for fans of the genre, so please try it if you're interested in this style.
