The Game starts with a cut scene:

The main character is out dealing drugs in a bad part of a city and he stumbles away after selling to a customer. He goes out to find in a newspaper three more of his customers were dead from drug overdose. That would make seven of his customers dead.

"Ah ♥♥♥♥. Those guys were my best customers..." he thought to himself. It was a rather dark for eight o' clock and he was nodding off already. Sighing, he walked around for a few blocks and found his car, with a window busted open.
"♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥, NO," he screamed and ran to his car to find all his cocaine, gone. He needed that, he needed the money. His bills haven't been paid in months and the drugs he had were gonna pull him out of this mess. Suddenly, he was not tired anymore and sank down against the driver's seat door. His head was in his hands and he trembled all over.
"My boss is going to KILL me for not getting a car alarm. After all this bad in one life, can't I have some good?" he thought aloud. As he said this, his mind was racing, filled with memories of his childhood.
As a young boy, his father left him and (main character's name) had to live in the dirty downtown with crime every other day. His mom was a prostitute after a while to support her family and his sister was going to join her until the mother was replaced by child protective services. He and his sister got separated and he grew up in many different foster homes, all with neglectful or abusive parents. Once he was old enough, he moved out of the suburbs and into the city where he met the love of his life. After two years together, she left him for a rich man. He then began gambling his way to riches but fell into debt and ran away from it all. He then changed his name illegally and got involved with the drug dealers. He was almost killed by them in a bar fight but their boss saw interest in him. His boss liked him and got him an apartment and a job. Since then, his life was going even more downhill.
Exasperated, he jumped into his old car that was probably overdue for an oil change and check-up and drove off into the city. It was rather dull for a Friday night, no clubs were jumping around in bright colors and loud music, instead it was just bright colors. The man nodded his head, knowing that he was too upset to hear anything. Which was why he pulled over and into a bar.
"Hey Eddy, get me a beer on tap," he said as he sat down at the bar.
"Ah, bad day eh?" Eddy asked while sliding a beer over to him.
"Yeah, but everyday for me is bad." He shook his head and drank in the cool liquid, letting it soak Then when one mug was empty he bought another. And another. And another.
Finally he stood up, teetering on his feet and ran to his car before Eddy could stop him. He put the key in the ignition and drove off, swerving on the streets. He did not know where to go but kept driving on endlessly. By midnight he was out of the city and on a highway with cliffs on either side. He could not hear anything other than his own breathing. Five minutes ago he pulled over to buy coffee at a Starbucks at a rest center. It was warm, even touching the sleeve made his hand burn at first. Thinking it was cool by now the man picked up his coffee and brought it to his lips to burn them into numbness. He yelled and dropped the coffee and into his lap. His reflexes went sky rocketing and he drove the car through the metal guard the should've stopped him from falling down the cliff. But it did not protect him, and he was plummeting to the bottom.
