501st Special Orbital Assault Raider Detachment ("Hellhounds")

The mission of the 501st SOARD "Hellhounds" is to seize and hold key terrain that has not been fully secured and to directly engage hostile forces behind enemy lines while executing an intensified program of harassment, diversion, physical destruction, acquisition of intelligence, generation of propaganda, raids, ambushes, sabotage, unconventional warfare, citizen rescue and diversion of resources, primarily against the Automaton Legion.[helldivers.fandom.com]

They execute precision orbital assaults, asymmetrical and advanced warfare operations in the defence of Super Earth's interests, leveraging adaptive tactics, superior training (a week-long extension course after the 72h Helldiver basic training), cutting-edge technology, and unyielding resolve.

Founded on the 01. Jan. 2185 in response to the continuing advances of Automaton forces especially in late 2184 and operating under the joint command of the Ministry of Intelligence and the Ministry of Defence, the Hellhounds are entrusted with safeguarding planetary security through rapid response, surgical strikes and intelligence-driven strategies, combining precision, ingenuity, and uncompromising dedication to dismantle synthetic threats, disrupt enemy advancements, and secure humanity’s future against the relentless attack of the Automatons, ensuring the continued prosperity and dominance of Super Earth across hostile and contested territories.

CLASSIFICATION: RESTRICTED COMMAND OF 501ST SPECIAL ORBITAL ASSAULT RAIDER DETACHMENT Fleet Admiral Genius Play Unique SES Paragon of Integrity 2185-01-28 1330Z MEMORANDUM FOR: COMMANDERS OF THE HELLDIVER COMMANDS IN THE AUTOMATON THEATER SUBJECT: Grand strategy against the Automaton Legion in the absence of Major Orders from High Command for the Automaton theater.

PROBLEM: The end of 2184 and the first weeks of 2185 have laid bare our inability to make any meaningful progress against Automaton occupation forces, leaving the enemy as the sole strategic actor in the theater.
RECOMMENDATION: All Helldiver commands in the Automaton theater should work to implement a grand strategy to limit the enemy's strategic flexibility.
BACKGROUND: Apart from a small ray of hope during the liberation operations of MO 85/01/03-I, all fronts have been stagnant, forcing us into being a mere reactionary force and ceding all strategic initiative to the enemy.
FACTS: We are currently faced with a wide front of ten planets at perpetual risk of invasion plus 19 planets under occupation and judging from recent events we will not be able to hold against any broad Automaton offensive.
ASSUMPTIONS: As seen in the example of MARTALE, Andromeda sector, cutting off enemy territory from its supply lines will, over time, soften it up for invasion. It has also shown that even an extended lull will not last.
ANALYSIS: By liberating LESATH, Lacaille sector we could cut off all four hostile planets in the frontline Tanis sector, thus reducing the number of at-risk planets from ten to six. Taking MATAR BAY, Andromeda sector and VERNEN WELLS, Hydra sector afterwards will reduce the overall number of at-risk planets down to a mere three while also cutting off the planets of MARTALE, Andromeda sector and AESIR PASS, Hydra sector in the process.
It is important to take LESATH first since it yields the highest reduction of at-risk planets and because the attritional effect on the Tanis sector is likely to be slower since its four cut-off planets remain together.
CONCLUSION: The current strategic picture gives us the opportunity to drastically reduce the number of at-risk planets by seven while cutting off about half of enemy territory from their supply lines, putting us into a much more advantageous position for the outset of any future campaign through the liberation of just three planets with low enemy resistance.
