ABOUT 2017 Animated Drama (Saxxy / Fil

Private Steam Group for correspondence between people on board.

Hi all,
As it's been a long time in preproduction for this project and the staff list has made drastic changes over the course of the 8 months of development, I felt it was important to consolidate all the staff involved with the project in one easily accessible Steam group. The only people not included in this group are those without Steam (namely composers / voice actors).

The group is intended to be an easy means to post updates relevant to the project in a public place that everyone onboard uses. As such, it will pay to subscribe to the comment section on this group as any updates that may be relevant to your role in the project will likely come up there or through announcements. If the crew list changes, it'll be altered on this page.

As we all have busy lives and many of you are working on this project out of a desire to see a compelling final product, I'll also take this space to express my thanks for your involvement, and everything that you do that moves the production forward is greatly appreciated. Also due to our busy schedules and conflicting timezones, respect each others workload as well - it may take several hours (or days) for others on board to see comments you leave for them.

The Move to Discord and General Update

Hello all,
It's been roughly six months since the last checkin on here, and there are several updates to take note of here.

First and most significantly, I've just set up a discord server with several channels, some which are relevant for most of you, others which apply to only a few of us. The reason for the move is twofold:

1. Correspondence via Steam messaging is tenuous at best, and puts all the responsibility to check in with you on my shoulders. Balancing this project, full time work, study and a social life with constantly checking in with up to 20 other staff is unmanagable and inpractical.

2. Discord steamlines our correspondence with the channel tabs on the server. If you have updates to any models, particles, concept art, animations, or even are just inspired by an event or image, there's individualised channels to make note of this. This gives me, and everyone else on board a great platform to have a dialogue on what works for our project development, and what needs improvement. Rather then it being a 1 on 1 conversation in Steam chat, it's group discussion, which makes us function far better as a team.

It is not set to expire, but it is 25 uses only, I will be messaging each of you individually to ensure the message gets out regarding this move to Discord.

If people have issues with Discord functionality, I can maintain contact direct through Steam, however I also have set up a voice channel on the server to contact me directly. When I am online, I will keep Discord open and any questions you have via voice or text you can pass them through there.

In terms of general update, it's been a slow drift into the year, which isn't too surprising, given those based in the States have been going through finals and other upheavals in life. Hopefully with the turn into the middle of the year and the move to dropbox, we can consolidate better into a team and push for more efficent progress.

The Plan moving into 2017

Hello all,
Want to make a formal announcement concerning the progression of the project at this point in time. It's coming to the point after a long winded pre-production phase that we're likely able to start laying the groundwork for production on this project, at least in regards to certain scenes. However, as long as it's still 2016, the primary focus for us is to have as many assets, props, maps, textures, effects and other aspects of the production prepared so we can begin the transition into producing some scenes with the turn into 2017.

Here's a comprehensive list of what we ideally want to achieve before this year wraps.

Mapping:
Physical structure of 'Late Night Street', 'Hospital ext/int' and 'Apartment / Kitchen / Bedroom' finalised.
Texture work will be sorted through 2017, as long as the structure for each scene is sorted, this should be enough to begin production with.
Further map work will be undertaken once these integral structures are in place.

Modelling:
For the modellers, as many assets prepared for the Apartment scene as possible, as well as those required for the Street map.
Refer to asset list and work through those models as high priority.
I will approach you individually to sort out where you're at.

File intergity:
This will be addressed sometime before the years end. Will restructure the dropbox so animators can work with the files in a manner that makes the files you need for each scene easy to find.

Voice lines:
Currently being recorded for various characters. Chosen lines for use in the project will be isolated and presented in individual files in scene-specific folders. Aside from some audio polish, any qualities in the sound file will remain unchanged, so applying them to scenes for lip synching when that time comes next year should present no issue.
