About the ATO

What is our purpose?

Our purpose is to ensure the overall safety of the community and game of Team Fortress 2 from “Terrorist threats”, a term which will be explained at some point below.

How will we accomplish this?

We will accomplish this by preventing certain groups from attempting to enforce their own unofficial rules. We will do this by first contacting groups in the means of conversing peacefully and respectfully, just in case these groups are willing to compromise. If they do not wish to compromise or work with us, we will spread awareness of what they plan to do through non-biased evidence. Finally, if these groups have taken direct action (Creating and hosting bots to accomplish their goals, partying with a bunch of people with the sole purpose of controlling votekick to accomplish their goals, etc) we will be forced to respond accordingly, which may change depending on how things go from there.

What defines a threat?

A threat is any group, not just an individual, that is under suspicion of hosting malicious bots, attempting to control playability, exploiting features on a large scale for the sake of holding a game hostage, etc.

How do we decide on things?

We decide on things as a group. One week of prior work will be done before any decision on lifting a person to Terrorist rank or a group to threat rank (Not including time spent on prior stages like attempting communication, etc). Two weeks of prior work and a majority vote of our group is required to begin stage three of Anti-Terrorism. All other decisions will be made with a majority vote.

How do I join?

There is a forum discussion in this group called "Sign-Up Booth". Go there and write down who you are (Virtually, according to who you are on Steam, no personal information please) and your reason for signing up.
Be aware of the following disclaimer: By joining you will be exposing yourself to a large amount of toxicity and unnecessary drama. Understand that you will be given criticism on poor decisions you eventually will make. Understand that you may be unable to avoid conversations or debates you find yourself uncomfortable with. You may, at times, risk being D-Doxed or worse by those we are dealing with. This majority of this group's job is not for those who lack patience.
With all this said, do take time to consider whether or not you should join, before signing up.

What happens if I leave?

Even if you join, you are able to leave at any time. Merely state why, exactly, you want to leave, just so we can understand the situation.
If you leave on your own terms, and decide to come back later, you will not be able to join the traditional way (Through the sign-up booth) again. Instead, you will have to PM one of the moderators here with your reason for rejoining. This is not a punishment, it is only to help against indecisiveness.

Apologies for the very long delay

I've finally gotten settled with my current arrangement, and I am ready to begin preparing and explaining more in depth about what we will be doing and why exactly we are doing it.
Yes, I know I started this group a while back and haven't done much with it, but now I am able to give it more attention because I have gotten issues in my real life out of the way. I will give an information dump and finish organizing the text wall by next Monday.

Hello, hello.
Welcome all.
I’ve been working on the group description and stuff for a bit, so it might take a while for everything else to get set up.
Just note that this group isn’t a sign of declaring war on anything, this group’s purpose is to prevent chaos and ensure the game stays alive.

While you’re here, you’ll most likely come across some people who’s opinions you disagree with. There’s a reason for this. I’ve chosen you people to join not because I want a bunch of followers to agree with what I say and want (I don’t want that), I want people that have their own opinions. But while we may not all agree, we should be able to work together.
Again, I’ve chose you all because you all have different experiences, different strengths. Etc. so, please, if you see someone in the group you’ve had arguments with or you harbor angry feelings toward, try starting fresh here.
