Or do are you only able to play against bots if you go singleplayer?

Game fails to host lobby. Forgot what the message said but it basically replied back with an error or unable to host. Please fix.

I can't seem to host a lobby for my friends, when I try to create the lobby, after a bit I get the popup error message saying "Something went wrong, attempt hosting again?". This has happened before and we have tried several times to play, it doesn't work. We decided to try remote play but that causes to game to crash when either of us accepts the invite through steam. We both have the full game....
