Old skool FPS with modern updates= fun as hell

As one who grew up playing DOOM2 on my stepdad's Macintosh (that game and computer being my introduction to PCGaming.) I really love Prodeus. Its the same game that we have played many times over, but this time Prodeus is a flavor all to it's own. Albeit the same course, it immediately hits the button we desire above all other. And that is fire.

Buy it, Enjoy it, and if you're wanting over immersive experiences to coalesce, I suggest Quasimorph

It's fine!

Most of the combat is surprisingly slowly-paced, or incentivized to be - at least until you enter the 2nd world.

The level design is clever - you go up and down and roundabout, but you never get lost, because things are expertly laid out for you. You still feel like you're an expert navigator, though.

You can charge your shotgun, which gives the weapon a nice rhythm and sound-charging effect. The alt-fire for the pistol and the charging of the sniper give similarly pleasant vibes. It'd be nice if the middle reticule of the sniper stood out a bit more, though.

The enemy death animations are cute and crumbly, but sometimes the animations take too long, and you keep shooting enemies that are just taking a long time to die.

The weapon-buying economy is unnecessary. I like to imagine it was something Humble Bundle foisted on the developers.

I like having the same weapon key swap out similar weapon types - "3" is shotgun and, if you tap it again, super shotgun. My only gripe is I wish the game remembered the last weapon you used. Grenade Launcher always shows up first when you hit 4, but me? I'm a Rocket Launcher guy. And I always forget to hit 4 twice, so I end up shooting a grenade. Stupid grenades.

One other nice thing about this game - the enemies aim with anticipation. You've gotta shake up your strafing to fake them out.
