1v1 Featured Event

Teammates holding you back? It's your time to shine in our 1v1 event lasting from December 12-14. Starts Friday, December 12 at 2am PT / 11:00 CET.

Skill-based matchmaking: Play with and against players near your skill level.
Visible ratings: Used for matchmaking and bragging rights.
Event Points (EP) leaderboard: Gain EP by playing games. Harder opponents earn you more EP. You cannot lose EP, so play as much as you can to climb!
Rewards:
- Top 10 finish: 25,000 Essence
- Top 100 finish: 15,000 Essence
- Top 1,000 finish: 10,000 Essence
- Reach 400 EP: 5,000 Essence

Game Balance

Double Down

Double down loss multiplier: 2 to 2.3 based on rating → 2 to 2.2

Data showed Double Down being slightly weak. This change makes Double Down power neutral on average and positive if you’re skilled at predicting your chance of winning.

Masterminds

There's been power creep, so the strongest masterminds are getting small nerfs.

Cartel

Income penalty after wave 10: -39 → -40

High win rate.

Saboteur

Starting gold: 5 → 4

High win rate.

Scrapper

Scrap: Sell percentage: 85% → 90%
Starting resources: +3 income, +3 gold → +2 income, +2 gold
Angler is now 75% less likely to be rolled

Scrapper was more fun a few patches ago when Scrap was at 90%. However, it was both overtuned and promoted unhealthy gameplay with Scrapping Kingpins. For now, we're trying to a frequency reduction to Angler and will make further changes as needed.

Yolo

Starting gold: 4 → 3

High pick rate, slightly high win rate.

Legion Spells

Executioner

Execute threshold: 15 (7.5% for ranged) --> 16% (8% for ranged)

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Giant Snail

Health and damage increased by 5%

Low pick rate and slightly low win rate.

Overwork

Bonus mythium rate on wave 11: 60% → 65%

Slightly low pick rate and low win rate.

Spread the Wealth

Gold: 95 → 98

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Titan

Health: 1450 → 1500

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Sorcerer

Effect: +58% ability damage --> +1.6 mana regen

Sorcerer was very strong on a small number of units (Trinity Archer, Azeria, and Banana Haven) and largely unviable on everything else, which made it an unhealthy design. And let's be honest - the old Sorcerer being OP on an autoattacker like Trinity Archer but not being usable on an ability-focused unit like Hades didn't make sense.

Additionally, the concept of "ability damage" has been poorly understood since the game's inception. Even many longtime players don't have an intuitive graph of how much ability damage units are dealing.

This new design will not only have much better gameplay clarity, we also believe it'll be more fun.

Fighters

Slime Siren

Attack speed decreased by 2.2%

High pick rate and slightly high win rate.

Rogue Wave

Damage increased by 4.8%
Delusion: Amplifies ability damage taken by 20% (10% against bosses) --> Slows movement speed by 90% (70% against bosses) for 3 seconds

Movement speed modifiers (which are generally lacking from the game) create some fun strategies and synergies.

Pipsqueak

Attack speed decreased by 3%

Too safe and consistent as an opening.

Dwarf Banker / Big Wig

Short Selling: Attack speed increased: 10% → 12%

Low pick rate and slightly low win rate.

Mudman / Golem

Health increased by 1.6%

Low win rate.

Elite Archer / Trinity Archer

Attack speed increased by 1.6%

Compensation buff for the change to Sorcerer.

Gatling Gun / Vulcan Cannon

Health increased by 2.5%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Holy Avenger / Sovereign

Attack speed decreased by 2.1%

High pick rate.

Banana Bunk / Banana Haven

Reflect damage decreased by 1

High pick rate and slightly high win rate.

Lord of Death / Hades

Mana regeneration decreased by 5%

High pick rate and slightly high win rate.

Hydra

Damage increased by 2.4%

Low pick rate and slightly low win rate.

Mercenaries

Safety Mole

Damage decreased by 1.6%

Slightly high usage rate and win rate.

Witch

Damage increased by 3.5%

Low usage rate.

Ghost Knight

Health decreased by 40%
Ghostwalker: Reduces damage taken from autoattacks (non-ability damage) by 20% --> 50% damage reduction from all sources

This change makes Ghost Knight less of a hard counter to certain units but more versatile. Additionally, has a nice synergy with Hermit and Honey Bear.

Centaur

Damage increased by 2.1%

Low usage rate.

Waves

Wave 12: Mantises

Attack speed decreased by 1.3%

Wave 13: Drill Golems

Damage increased by 2%

Shifting power from wave 12 to 13.

Wave 16: Cardinals

Attack speed decreased by 1.1%

Wave 17: Metal Dragons

Health increased by 1.1%

Shifting power from wave 16 to 17.

Wave 20: Maccabeus

Attack speed decreased by 3%

Wave 20 is too lethal. 80% of games that reach wave 20 currently end there.

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:

Mini & Wumbo: Starting spells: Replaced Protector and Magician with Hypercarry and Pulverizer
Increased frequency of PvE and decreased frequency of Tower Defense

Improvements

Improved roll recommender and Lock In autopicker algorithm
Fixed unintended pings when alt tabbing
Fixed Battlescars/Hypercarry bug with Hell Raiser
Fixed Hypercarry bug with modes that have multiple Legion Spell selections
Improved Nucleus Art
Fixed off-by-one error in post game graphs
Fixed Mastermind selections not showing in teamchat
Added a button to undo legion spells and champion during the build phase it was placed
Autosend and Queued mercs now get added to the estimated gold preview
Active abilities like Harden are now displayed in the Tab builds

Auto Send 2.0????

Please explain to me the logic behind developing a game that has a high skill ceiling, due to the need to learn/figure out how a list of units and mercenaries counter each other - THEN creating a feature that literally does the thinking for you and approximates a very high percentage counter to whatever your opponent has built? How is this in the spirit of the game at all? Now everyone can just ***leverage AI*** to play the game for them, instead of trial and error, thinking, learning, experimenting, ♥♥♥♥...

I loved this game for the longest time. I've recommended it to other players. I have gifted this game more times than I can count. I've supported this game by purchasing cosmetics.

However, this community is extremely toxic. It's the same players who have played for ages once you get to a certain rank it's just the same people over and over again. Regardless if it's ranked or unranked. Not to mention all these players have like at least one smurf account. I know at least a handful of people with like 5+ smurf accounts.

If you are playing this game solo. You'll have a terrible time with matchmaking and the overly toxic players who think the world revolves around them. Before it wasn't as bad, as you could report them manually to the developers but they did away with that system years ago. Now, the system is gone. Toxic players go unpunished.

You want me to turn off chat? How else do you communicate in a team game? Turn off chat? Not a team player. Have chat on and get flamed by toxic players or extremely racist people on the SAME Team. They don't like how you play or if you don't forfeit? They'll ruin the game no matter your opinion. I don't understand why this game has country flags built into the game. This really promotes extremely racist behaviors. Players will flame and say every derogatory word they can think of. Hiding your flag does nothing. It only hides it once in the end game summary. If you go back to it later. It's still there. Flags are based on IP location.

I've only seen a handful of people get muted by default by FairPlay in the entirety of the FairPlay system.

You can make 2 reports every 8 games. So, you have to juggle what reports you can make. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. What happens if you make 3 reports every 8 games? Your report is null and void. Report system is almost like it's designed to benefit the toxic players since nothing happens to them when they have extremely low karma/Behavior score. Every game I play, there's at least 1 player than has 79 or below Karma score.

I don't know the exact score card.

You leave a game without win/lose/forfeit. You lose 2 points. You gain .1 point for every completed game.

The question is WTF are you doing Devs? People with sub 65 Karma? How do you even get there. Why are people with max or high karma getting paired with people with GARBAGE Tier Karma. You are punishing the players who abide by the rules of sportsmanship and rewarding the toxic players at this point.

Idk. I'll stick around for a little longer to see if anything changes. Don't get me wrong, you've done a fantastic job in terms of updates, balancing, and new dlc to purchase. However, this environment hasn't gotten better and is just progressively getting worse. Please do something ASAP or you'll be losing a loyal fan and customer.

TLDR;

Pros:

Devs are great at balancing, updates, major fixes for critical bugs or flaws.

Cons:

Extremely toxic community.
Tons of racism everywhere.
The amount of people who ruin games + being racist isn't even funny. It's bad.
The guild system allowing you to upload any image without any moderation. [NSFW]
The nicknames in the guild system promoting racism.
The in-game name themselves promoting racism and nothing happens to those players.
Basically, this game has a really bad habit of PROMOTING RACISM.
The discord isn't any better.

I'll change my review if there is a proactiveness to change these issues. Otherwise, the review stays.

January 2 (Friday): Season 2026 (v26.1) patch notes are posted
January 5 (Monday): Current season ends at 3am PST / 12pm CET. Ranked disabled. Season 2026 (v26.1) goes live! Rewards are given out over the next few days & ratings are soft-reset.
January 5-9 (Monday-Friday): 1v1 featured event is live
January 9 (Friday): New season begins at 3am PST / 12pm CET. Ranked re-enabled.

Ranked Season

Ranked badges and loading screen borders are based on your peak rating this season. You are not penalized for dropping below a tier you already achieved. Eligibility for each tier requires 10 ranked games and a peak rating this season of:

Bronze: 1000
Silver: 1200
Gold: 1400
Platinum: 1600
Diamond: 1800
Expert: 2000
Master: 2200
Senior Master: 2400
Grandmaster: 2600
Legend: 2800

Best of luck in the final weeks of the season! Remember you cannot drop ranked rewards by playing. Rewards are based on your peak rank this season.

Ladder Points

Ladder Points (LP) are a measure of your overall presence on the ladder throughout the course of the year.
LP are earned for the first 10 ranked games per week. LP gain per game ranges from 10 to 100; more points are earned the higher rated you are.

Rewards: Every January, at the end of the ranked season, special badges are given to the top 1/10/25/50/100 LP earners based on their final LP rank. Then, everyone's LP is reset back to 0 for the next season.

Champion: Top 11-25 LP

i have been playing for a very long time and always very much loved the game and very much have liked each update.

sense the update for AUTO POWER sending i find myself playing the games less and less, feels like the AUTO POWER option takes away a learning aspect of the game making it feel more brain dead during gameplay.
