A nice surprise for an older gamer

As Trading Card Games go, Fracctal TCG is a pretty decent new entry to the field. With the exception of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon, I’ve played virtually every CCG/TCG on the market; I have almost 20 of them in my Steam account alone. I’ve never been great at any of them, but I’m somewhat decent at MTG and passable at Hearthstone.

My initial impression of Fracctal was, “Not for me, another game aimed at kids,” because I’m an old guy. Most of the newer card games I’ve tried have that same cartoony or anime style that tends to appeal to younger audiences. I tried Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond recently, and although the gameplay was somewhat decent, I can only take so much of a game where the epilepsy warning has to be taken seriously and scantily dressed female avatars bounce all around the screen. Besides, something about my character being 10 years old just doesn’t sit right with me. At least Fracctal let me add a beard.

After a few hours of trying things out in Fracctal, I could see that there was more beneath the surface than I expected. The mechanics mesh pretty well together, although I don’t care for “evolve”—that mechanic actually breaks the gameplay in Shadowverse, but it is not as extreme here, at least. The fact that you can craft a two-color deck is a plus; being stuck with one theme in Hearthstone tends to bore me at times.

While Fracctal doesn’t bring anything entirely new to the table, it effectively imports features from many TCGs/CCGs into one package. All in all, there seems to be enough to do, and a new player can acquire additional cards and packs fairly easily without digging into their wallet.

It's a promising start for a small team, and I’ve already had a very positive exchange with one of the devs when I had a small Steam issue. If you like trading card games, I would definitely recommend giving Fracctal a try.

This is what a new card game should be like. The adventure mode teaches you everything you need to know about the game and let's you encounter most cards that exist right now. After completing it I had a very good idea of the type of deck I wanted to build. Even better, because of all the free stuff the adventure mode gave me, I was able to buy 45 packs and fully build that deck immediately, including all the epics and mythics I needed! I can't think of a single other game that let's you do that right now. The game itself has mechanics similar to Hearthstone (without the excessive RNG) but with some interesting unique twists, such as many creatures being able to evolve if they stay in play long enough. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. Definite recommend!

Of course I recommend the best TCG at this time and probably in all time with room to improve! And it is only going to get better.
I'll list the features in the game at the moment so you can see if it's for you.

Which are:
Adventure mode- which teaches you the mechanics of the game and gives you packs going through it.

Tournaments- Daily and throughout the day automated tournaments. Which you join in for a small fee of essence which is the in game currency. Placing in the top three will give you a lot more essence back. From first place giving you the majority down to 3rd place.

Guild Features- Which allows you to take on guild missions that give you various ways to earn essence from completing them with your guild. Also you are able to grab cards from the guild vault that others can send there cards to so that you can get them with your guild points that you earn from missions.

Daily Missions/Daily login rewards- Pretty much explanatory. Just login and grab the rewards and complete missions like do x amount of damage or kill x amount of monsters.

Ranking System- Which give you a list of the top 50 players based on there ELO and win rate.

Practice Mode- Where you can battle against the AI color starter decks to get the feel of the game or test decks.

Deck Building- Where you can create decks with your cards that let you create a mono or dual type deck with a fairy power. A fairy power is basicly a hero power in hearthstone, but is useable when ever you play that color card x amount of times.

Card Packs- that you can buy with real money or essence, but it is very easy to get packs with just playing the game I was able to get almost all cards and only gave them money to help support the devs. This is by no means a p2w game. It is the most free to play TCG card game out.

Developers- Are very active and nice in discord and answer questions and that also ask for feedback.

The only negative I can think of for me is the low amount of players playing. But that is to be expected with it. As it has just recently released in early access.
