I have this game on my wishlist for long time but I read it's been abandoned. Is this game in a playable state without significant game breaking bugs?

Its been quite some time since I last visited this game and am curious on whats the current state of the game and its community is like now? I know the game has been dead for some time, but how dead is the game now? Are people still trying to play it, or have we given up on the game?...

Its been years since I last looked at this game, and honestly I've been trying to find excuses to come back and pick up the game again. Despite those who would stand by the game being "Released", it is still unfortunately a unfinished game with still much needed optimization and bug fixing needing to be done.
