Costs over £100 to get the Godzilla cosmetics.

Don't play this game, the prices are inexcusable.

Oh Boy, what is to say about this game... I gave it a shot.
Played 30 hours of this, trying to see the best, but i gotta say: if this is a game for children, i do not recommend it. Here is what i found that is good and (especially) bad about this new release.
The game is akin to Fall Guys, and a lot of the minigames are quite fun. When playing normally (emphasis on that, we'll get to it later), the game really shines, as the variety of minigames to try is large and new ones are constantly getting added. Having also a small separate mode where you can try the minigames for yourself and get some premium currency and some extra stuff is good (even though the amount of premium currency is INCREDIBLY SMALL). Another positive is also the boss battles which are mostly fun (except some of the elite versions) and i especially love the mode where everything is sped up (which i believe should be the standard mode, as it would be in character for the Sonic game to have fast movement).
While the gameplay is not bad and i would consider it passable, the amount of ads and things the games tries to sell you is absurd, especially for the prices it keeps asking you. Now i understand the reason for it: it's a Free To Play game, you need to get back your money. And that's completely fine and understandable.
What it's not fine is asking around 100 euros for a single skin when it's not on sale.
With that price, i could get a full Sonic Game: hell with that amount of money i could buy the deluxe version of Sonic Racing Crossworld, the last game they've made.
And let's not mention the multiple battlepasses that you gotta pay at the same time, all of which cost around 9-10 euros, giving you mostly free currency and only like 1-2 emotes and 1 skin.
But that's not even the biggest issue with the game. Having skins with such absurd prices and all these mini-passes that still cost too much for what they offer is egregious already, but you can avoid it, right?
So now they've put the new characters as something that you have to pay up or grind for weeks to unlock. These are not simple skins for characters that already exist: these are highly requested characters that people enjoy and they wanna play as them, cause they like them.
Now we have characters like Wave, Storm, Whisper, Tangle, Zazz, Scourge...all of which you either pay up with premium currency or that you gotta grind with the few ways to unlock them: have fun (now that also the 300 premium currency event is over) to spend many weeks trying to get them if you don't wanna spend for them. And the ways to gain that premium currency is not something renewable: once you gain those, you can't do that again. So after you reach that limit of "free premium" that you can get, you're out of luck: can't get any of the new characters they'll add unless you pay 30 euros!
And since i've mentioned characters that you gotta buy...imagine my surprise when i saw Emerl, a character that people haven't seen for years and have wanted him back into series, stuck behind a small paywall battlepass. Thank you Rovio and Sega, very cool of you to force us to pay up without even having an extra long grind option to get him.
And now that i've mentioned the more well known problem about your game, let's mention some stuff that people may not know
One of the stupidest additions i've seen for this game. The concept is good, but the execution is incredibly demented. After a couple of games, you can unlock skills that add new moves to your character that you may use after they have recharged, so you can't spam these. These would be a cool idea to give everyone a way to express themselves and have more variety. Unfortunately, not every skill is created equal: some of these skills are character-locked, with some of the more egregious and powerful ones related either to one of the previously mentioned paid characters, or that you can unlock only after buying some stuff in the shop to get enough stamps for them. And if you pay up even more, you can level up faster these skills, making them even better and giving you some broken advantages during minigames. Best example?
You play as Shadow: they have now just released a new skill for him that not only boost his speed (making him faster than other players), but also makes him fully invincible. And due to this, i've seen many players pick Shadow just cause while reaching the end of race minigames or during survival challenges, they can just press a button and...avoid anything that would make them lose.
Another example: you buy Wave. Due to having bought Wave, you now an ability exclusive to her that gives you a very fast dash that also damages everyone you go through, letting you get some very cheesy and easy win.
So yeah...congratulations for having bought your way to victory.
And finally, as the last point...
This is what i find most disgusting: when the game launched, people have (rightfully so) complained about the exurbitant prices. And what did they do? Did they decrease the prices and give some currency as compensation for those who have bought them at the original prices? Did they add new ways to get currency consistently if they wanted to keep the same prices?
Nope: they did something worse. While the news was into everyone's mouth, they decided to put some stuff on sale and decrease the price for some stuff, just to showcase that "they listened to us". And now? At the start of Season 2? More stuff that is 999 premium currency (with not even a short period of them being "on sale"), more characters that ask tons of premium currency, only a couple new events added (without any new consistent way to get the premium currency) and nothing else.
And content creators will not talk about these issues, because most them do not want to lose their precious creator status that lets them get free currency and extra bonuses each time someone inputs their code while purchasing.
Because yeah, putting a creator code does not give you any bonuses, it only gives a bonus to the content creator itself: you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, not even a discount!
I'm not really a spiteful guy, especially since i know there are people that have spent many hours developing this game and have put their talent and their passion to make it a fun game... but i kinda hope this game crumbles and dies, unless they actually reduce the prices and make it less greedy. I want the game to be the best it can be, but with the way it is now, we gotta make these companies see that if they put their hand too much into our wallet, they won't see our money ever again.

Edit: Developer responded and claims the game isn't P2W (it is), but play the game for yourself to realize that if you care to see. Basically, there is a bonus to score % modifier for (ranking). To get that you own/buy stuff (which you'll notice people having several thousand bonus % from whaling) which ties into the ranking ladder system (which is a prime gameplay component and has a variety of its own rewards and achievements tied to it). Not just that, P2W lets you buy the expensive and unique skill abilities plus their upgrades which DIRECTLY impacts performance in gameplay. A F2P will have to spend a long, long time slowly accumulating variety of tokens and points to unlock stuff which means they'll be behind/inferior to those spending cash.

I played as a F2P player for the first couple weeks and then went on to spend about $20 USD in battle passes to "feel" the difference. Not a true whale, but enough to get a sense of the gap.

Pros: Good variety of characters, skins, zones, etc. Gameplay is what you expect in this genre with some Sonic flavoring to most of it. Frequent updating. Reasonable performance.

Cons: Predatory monetization(multiple ongoing limited time battle passes with tiered paid options, various "add on" packs and subscriptions, multiple tokenized upgrade systems and limited time bait incentives, etc). A Pay to Win mechanic (score bonus % from owning skins, pets, passes, etc) that feeds into the ranking system, which is the 'end-game' treadmill. You can basically get most the F2P content in a couple weeks or so, but after that you're either done with the game or sucked into the grind which is a skinner box nightmare of ever rising ladders to climb with fake/bot accounts clogging up the rankings.

Example: To unlock more Red Rings, which are the premium token currency in game as a F2P player you need to do achievements (which are general limited to a trickle of 5-10 for things like getting 1-2-3 place in X number of matches or first time breaking through Rank tiers (bronze, gold, plat, etc). Occasionally some profile rank-up. The other way is doing 'challenge' stages alone or in a group (5 to 10 on hard) which to unlock you need 3 different types of bronze/silver/gold tokens and to get those tokens you need to do passes and perhaps other misc raffle type content. It takes a few hundred red rings to get an EPIC skin, worth about 45% base to your rank score bonus, or nearly a thousand red rings for legendary skins worth about 120% base rank score bonus. As a F2P player I racked up a couple hundred red rings from doing functionally all the content I could possibly do without waiting maybe weeks of slow grinding for a trickle in from profile rank ups. Once I bought battle passes I pretty much accumulated three times as much since I now had tons more tokens to open up challenge stages and made rank climbing faster/easier from the additional skins/pets and bonus stuff. It was pretty night and day.
