It's dated, feels like playing a retro space pirate sim, but the sound track alone keeps everything light and exciting. Reminds me of watching Firefly. You get your ship and cruise the galaxy, meeting aliens, mining asteroids, and being attacked by pirates. Choices influence your reputation, which is really cool, save other traders from the pirates, or become a space pirate yourself. You can upgrade your ship, weapons, and armor, you can make friends or enemies, its a well thought out game with lots to love, even after 10 years... Yeah there are some minor things that should have been ironed out prior to release, but nothing that prevents you from having a good time.

The combat mechanics are awkward and uncomfortable. The game has an interesting premise and a story I would love to see more of, but it has proven to have a poor game-play experience for myself personally.

I was looking for something that would scratch the the itch for flying around in space and this certainly does it. The combat is unique, acting like old naval battles with broadside weapons, the ship design has the cool factor, and the gameplay is engaging and allows for stop and go playing. (sometimes I only have 15 minutes, and that is plenty of time to hop on, do some missions, and get off). Not a super intense or deeply story driven, but entertaining and enjoyable.
