Bought it after hearing that this game is "Bordershock: new vegas" - turned out to be very stiff and clunky. Maybe if you're very much into Fallout series you'd like it. I was very disappointed.

What a fun game this was. 8.5/10

It had what I loved most about these type of games: exploring, looting, upgrading, lots of side quests, your own personal quarters where you store infinite amount of trash you find, and skills that matter as you progress, decisions that alter the outcome of the story.

My only complaint was the optimization, had to turn down some settings and turn on FSR to get around 100 fps on high settings, game still looked good though.

Note to self: There are some achievements Ive missed. I should not replay this to get them.

The Outer Worlds is a good game, but not an outstanding one. Its really well made, but ultimately a bit bland to play. What do I mean by this? Objects including lootable containers which you havent ensured are empty are highlighted, which is great, but you spend a LOT of time just picking up loot. You can sell or breakdown the loot, and buy new things/repairs weapons and armour, but to what end? Combat. Combat is well made, with headshots, stealth, melee, status effects etc - but its also very unsatisfying, nothing has any "oomph", and the gunplay has nothing on FEAR for example.

There are plenty of quests, with voiced dialogue, lots of choices, etc - but I found myself speed reading and skipping stuff.

I think the thing TOW is missing is "life", or at least a simulation of it, this isnt a world one can immerse in, and be delighted by, iyts simply a really well engineered role playing fps. Which is not a criticism, its well made, its good enough tom play, its just a shame its missing some secret ingredients to make this into a world.
