This game came out in Early Access in 2023. It came out as a 1.0 release in April 2025. It still feels like it needs 12 months of a UI overhaul to be recommended as a paid game.

The stink of AI-generated slop permeates most of the look and feel of the game.

The concepts are great. A mercenary-type game where you have to start from the bottom, to the point of taking odd-jobs in town to make ends meet? Sign me up!

Ohhh, then you get to the UI, and everything falls apart.

The first issue hits you on character creation: What do these attributes and skills do? Hover over them... no tooltips. Only for a few attacks are there any tooltips. For the attributes and skills, there are none. For a game that's been in 1.0 release since April! So on creation, you have to choose skills, but you won't know what the different skills do.

On your first trip in the game, Issue 2 hits: You can't manually mark a spot on your map. Oof. Come on.

Then Issue 3: You have 2 quests. They're marked with "!" on the map. But no tooltips. So the game won't tell you which quest is which marker. You can't turn off tracking for certain quests. And you can't keep tracking for certain quests on-screen.

Then, the one that made me quit, Issue 4: The map only shows icons for things that your character is physically close to. The icons go away once you get a short distance from those markers. This is unacceptable.

Having a big first town to explore inside is good. Having map markers that disappear? Why? It's *my* map! Once I find something, the marker shouldn't go *away*! There's no good reason for this.

Add on top of this the character models that look so terribly AI-generated that they hardly look human. They look like Bellwright's *Alpha* stage skin tones, they're that bad. (Bellwright's one of the few examples of devs supporting an AI-assisted game well after early access release)

I watched a Youtuber stream this, thought the concept was okay, jumped in for the price tag... it's more aggravating than it's worth.

Seriously, if this is the UI after years of development + 1.5 years of early access + 6 months of release, I don't think the UI's going to get much better than this. And that's sad. The game is going nowhere until that's improved.

There is just too much jank and poorly designed systems for this game to be redeemable. For example, there's apparently no consequences to taking items when nobody is around except when you hit an arbitrary threshold of value stolen; suddenly every guard wants to arrest you for stealing. The first town the main story takes you to has multiple doors that can't be opened. The only way to effectively level some skills such as persuasion is to spam persuade checks on no-name NPCs. Your starting points for various backgrounds aren't "unforgiving", they're poorly tuned, give you no real agency on making better decisions; the first couple hours of a campaign are basically "well that event went poorly and I couldn't have done anything different, guess I'll reload my save". The English translation is poor, something that isn't acceptable for a CRPG, and I don't expect it to get any better as the game progresses.
The game reeks of idea-guy trying to cobble together a game but not actually playing the game in earnest. I just don't see how all of these problems would exist if the people who made this game wanted to make an enjoyable game.

This isn't 2006 anymore when a company like Bethesda could produce a barely functional janky game and gamers would put up with it because the story or setting was interesting. I highly recommend you guys instead purchase pretty much any other CRPG out there with relatively positive reviews, I can guarantee you will have a better experience than this pile of slop.

I feel like there are a lot of games with this type of review.. "Great bones". But unfortunately, that is all it is right now, is bones. Based on past reviews, it would *seem* that the game has gotten worse over time, as far as bugs and issues are concerned. It's not that the game is hard, per se, it's just that you have to figure out a lot of work-arounds for a lot of stuff. A lot of systems don't function properly. For example, quest icons may or may not appear after accepting a quest. Or you may enter a random settlement and when you exit, there are a group of enemies that you have NO chance of defeating. However, they are so close that as soon as you exit, they immediately aggro you. You might thing to try to reload into the settlement and try again. Unfortunately, every time you hit a load screen, you overwrite your latest save. You only get 5 save slots so it is very easy to accidentally brick your game. The alternative is to go back to a save before you entered that village which, depending on when that was, could be a fair amount of time lost. It's bad either way.

Nothing here really feels finished or even moderately complete. It feels like things were hastily done and, as time went on, were not updated or kept up with. As I said before, it has "great bones" but I feel like the path of progression this game is on will not lead to it ever being finished or even left in a decent state. I would be happy to be wrong and I will come back from time-to-time to check it out. If this changes, I will definitely update my review.
But for now, even on a sale, I would not recommend it.
