As a long time "Tales of" fan I would give this an 8.5/10

Story was cohesive and world building was good although there were some points I wish they expanded on or had some parts extended so that they would sink in or have the twists hit harder.

Gameplay wise the combat is both restricting and more free than previous entries in the series. Early game felt like a slog and very repetitive due to how many artes you could map to buttons and your options for artes. Healing is costly and deaths are very punishing due to the cost of Life Bottles and gels for your "Cure Points" or CP for short.

The character cast this time around is likeable and I would say is very well balanced. There isn't a single character in the main line up that I would outright say I disliked them or hated them. The interactions between each character is also good with skits still putting a smile on my face.

Its been a few years since the last mainline megaman game and capcom is able to make yet another good game with some nice twists in the power gear and speed gear systems.

The first game in the Ys series to use the party system allowing the use of other characters and a myriad of skills/attacks. This game isn't platform heavy as the earlier installments into the series but instead focuses on evading through dash rolls or guarding instead of jumping around.

For a port the only problem that you might notice is the low quality textures but I was so busy with the high paced action and our hero Adol doing his usual thing that I barely noticed it for most of the game.

As a "Tales of" fan I have to put this somewhere in my top 5 tales games. The character cast is good, the story is good (as far as tales of stories go), the combat was actualy great to my surprise, its full of references to past games for those who like the cameo stuff, and it actually has a number of in game costumes.

To any Tales of fan one of the things I look forward to is the combat system and at first I thought it wasn't going to be that great with the 4 face buttons acting as the attack buttons meaning less combos. After going through the entire game and unlocking more of the combat systems the only downsides I would give it are the fact it uses an arte tree system and the fact that you can lose SG (attack meter that lets you do more attacks in a combo) till you have only 1.

all in all I would give this game an 8.5/10
still waiting on that english ps3 vesperia port ;_;

Setting out on a journey in a snow filled land with an OST of nothing but piano to set the mood.

The game is nice, simple, and short at roughly 20~ hours for a playthrough. The battle system is nice with multiple moves for the cast to equip and combo attacks to figure out and make but once you figure out what you're doing and set up the team you want you can blast through most places with ease. There are some gripes I have about some game mechanics but those are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things considering how quickly you can get things done. The characters and story are pretty straightforward but I kinda wish the expanded on some parts. Overall my enjoyment outweighed my annoyance and the game is still pretty solid for what it is.

Before the game started it asked me if I was good at FPS games and I thought to myself what does that have to do with anything since this is a VN. Once I got to the camera sections I see now why it asked. You gotta be quick and move fast if you want to line up those perfect shots at the right angles.

I came for waifu and memes but I ended up playing a SHMUP for a few hours

Great art, great music, great characters and the writing is good enough.
You would think the dialogue would be nothing but meme spewing but its not really. The memes and references are far apart from each other in the main dialogue but if you want to read nothing but memes there are optional side dialogues inbetween each day in the game.

What drinks you serve to who and when affects the endings however there are some optional moments that you can serve "wrong drinks" that dont affect endings that cause the dialogue to branch off into a new mini route for some side characters expanding on their characters which is nice.

DFC-72s is nice and all but when are we going to get a m00n-906292

Played on the vita and now playing it at 60fps on pc.

You would think its a shallow game but its fast paced action with each character having a different playstyle leading to multiple hours played. The allure of this series isn\'t the fanservice but rather the characters and the gameplay. There are overall story arcs and individual character\'s story arcs that you can play through which deepen the individual characters.
To put things simply, its just plain old fun.

obligatory 10/10 life and hometown yumi is my waifu

Tales of Symphonia, the 5th mothership title of the "Tales of" series. The first 2.5d game of the series that kind of sets the ground work for future mothership titles and a nice starting point for those who have never played a "Tales of" game. Great gameplay, a nice cast of characters, an ok story, and a lot of content to challenge and explore.
