Kingdom Come Deliverance II is not just a game it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’ve played hundreds of games (most of them being visually stunning), but very few have managed to grab me like this masterpiece.
You probably know the feeling when you truly fall in love with a game. You can’t stop thinking about it whether you’re lying in bed, at work, or anywhere else all you want is to get back to your PC and dive right in again. This is one of those ocassions.

Sure, there are many visually stunning titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, Avatar or Horizon. But I’m talking about the complete package. A game that is not only beautiful to look at, but also deeply immersive, relatable, and emotionally engaging. A story that’s exciting, funny, dramatic and, above all, believable. Something that feels like life itself, grounded in history, not fantasy.

And the freedom of choice is just incredible. You can be anything you want: a headhunter, herbalist, alchemist, thief, hunter, knight in shining armor, or even the devil himself. The game never forces you into a single playstyle, making every playthrough feel unique.

The only other game that comes close in this regard is Red Dead Redemption 2. I can’t think of any other title that captivated my eyes and mind to this extent. On top of that, the mechanics are both entertaining and challenging in the best possible way. Combat, survival, progression, resource management, everything feels meaningful and rewarding.

It took me aprox230 hours to complete almost every achievement, quest and activity, and Im currently halfway through the DLC. Knowing I’ll soon be finished honestly saddens me. I spent countless hours just riding my horse or walking through the world without any goal, treating it as a medieval life simulator. And it worked. The world feels so incredibly real that it’s like stepping into the 15th century.

I didn’t think Warhorse could top KCD1 but they did. KCD2 feels like a once-in-a-generation masterpiece.
Games like KCD2, Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2 or The Witcher 3 are the reason why people buy a gaming PC in the first place. They’re more than just games, they’re experiences, worlds to lose yourself in.
This is as good as gaming gets. Period.

I first bought this game on Epic after release and played halfway through. Later I picked it up again on Steam for the achievements (got it as a gift) and started completely from scratch. At one point I even considered stopping my current playthrough just to restart again but I guess you can never truly recreate that magical feeling of playing it for the very first time.

Just take a look at these in-game screenshots (no cutscenes, no Photoshop, no Reshade!) and tell me this isn’t one of the best-looking games ever made. I can’t wait for the third part.
Warhorse – for the love of god, please never abandon this franchise. This is what gaming was invented for.

Well, watched Alien Romulus last night at it somehow reminded me of this masterpiece and it bothered me, that I hadn't written a proper review about it.
Not that it would be necessary, since almost every single person who has played this game calls it a masterpiece or one of the best horror games of all time.

It is so well written, looks still astonishing in 2024 thanks to the Cathode engine, and gives you so much fanservice, that you cant help but watch every single Alien movie created after you've started playing this game. Reminds me of watching Deadwood when Red Dead Redemption 2 was released. Some games do that with you.....

You are looking for the best video-game adaption of a movie in history?
Well, enjoy your stay because this is as good as it gets.

edit:
F*** IGN,
We haven't forgotten.

Amnesia, Stanley Parable, Portal, Soma, The Talos Principle and many other games which are not your daily mainstream games but have the special power to carry you into another world and make you think about yourself and how you perceive your environment. It's not even about the art alone, rather about creating a dense atmosphere and to take you on a journey.

Scorn combines the riddles from Talos Principle with the horror and art of some parts of Alien Isolation (Apollo Core design) and Soma, heavily influenced by H.R Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński and takes you into a world of horror, beauty and the question which defines humanity since the dawn of men,
"Who Are We And Where Are We Going?

You are given no hints whatsoever and your only job is to observe your environment and become a part of it.
This is no shooter, no adventure game, not necessarily a puzzle-game and not even really a horror game, its a "art-game".
It was never about the horror itself, more the world, the lore, the story. the atmosphere and all the questions which still havent been entirely answered.
And this is what defines this beautiful masterpiece. Your own interpretation matters.

The graphics looks so crunchy on 1440p and 4K, so real and rubenesque, I want to touch it. I want to be a part of it and smell the metallic and bloody odor, the rotten and dying organic scent.
This is where you just turn off the lights, put on your headphones and dive into another world.
13 hours in and no end in sight. I want the full experience. It want it all.

To the folks who hate this game, you are entitled to your opinion but you might have been misled by the hype. Sh*t happens but its time to move on. Still, no reason to downvote this game.
To the folks who enjoyed and who are still enjoying this game, I salute you and I hope, we'll get some DLCs soon.

Thanks @devs for this special treat. Bought this game on GOG but I bought it again on Steam for cheevos and the art book.
Now if you excuse me, gotta dive back.

Enjoy yourselves.

First of all, thanks for the UltraWide support. Me and my Ultrawide companions out there do appreciate that very much. Folks who are familiar with Point and Click games know that UltraWide support is not self evident and a seldom pleasure. Black bars are not the end of the world but still. ;)

As for the game, Im not gonna bore you with a personal reference of my youth, because we all have a similar background story. They dont call us the nostalgic community for nothing. ^^
Point and Click adventures are "feel-good"-games, as Im not getting tired to mention it. They are like books or a good movie, where you just take a load off and enjoy yourself for a couple of hours, You can always get back to them and they dont fail to make you feel better, wherever you feel bad/sad or not even feel like gaming at all. I mean, is there something better than a PnC adventure, a cup of hot chocolate while its raining/snowing outside ?

And this one here is the mother of all P'n'C adventures. LucasArts and the Monkey Island franchise are as good as it gets. This is where everything began and where this genre got famous and hundreds and hundreds of titles have been inspired from.
You can hardly find any P'n'C adventure out there without a quote or a reference to the mother of Point and Click adventures.
And the nostalgia hits you right between the you know what. Revisiting all those places where we spent hours and hours of our youth, meeting the lovely characters again and hearing the good old familiar soundtrack and some new interpretations of old songs makes you almost tear up and reminisce of old times.
Better times, as most of us would agree......

However, the nostalgia makes you also ignore and forget about the art style which is sometimes a pain in the you know what, especially on hard mode without the clue-option and looking for a specific item without knowing if its a part of the background ore interactable. But youll eventually get over it because the atmosphere&jokes are on point and I had to burst out laughing several times, especially while reading the diary of LeChuck.
The difficulty is a tad too easy, even on hard mode when compared to the original games, but that doesn't affect the overall quality of the game.

Lets not forget that Return to Monkey Island is a fan-service to all us grownups, manchilds and youngsters at heart out there, who were raised playing this game or who have been raised seeing someone playing this game. There is no way around the Monkey Island franchise if were speaking legit video game history and Im more than thankful for this little journey throughout the past, especially if you keep in mind, that this genre is not a cashcow. We are a dying community and I hope that some of you guys got inspired again, to play all those wonderful Indie PnC games (and some of them remastered and new ones like the Leisure Suit Larry-games from Assemble), to keep this community and platform for PnC developers alive.

edit:
Love you all, guys.

Do not forget, to......"Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game."
[except this one] ;)

I dont often write reviews on Steam because who am I to tell other people what to buy and what not, but when I do, it must be worth it. This is one of those situations and I kind of also feel that this game doesnt get the attention it deserves.

If youre like me and you like to just take a break from life and regular gaming itself and you tend to enjoy comic-esque Point and Click adventures, this game might be something for you.
PnC comic-games are "feel-good"games in my eyes. Im talking
-Monkey Island-franchise
-Deponia-franchise
-Edna-franchise
-Larry Laffer franchise
-Leisure Suit Larry franchise
and games from rather small Indi devs, like Detective Gallo, Irony Curtain or Kathy Rain.

Dexter Stardust fits seamlessly into this list. A comic style adventure, drawn with much love, lovely characters and catchy music.
And youve to keep in mind that the entire game, except the voice-over of course, was developed and created by a single person over years. You cant praise this game enough given that other companies have much higher funds and more personal but still lack to create a atmospheric game.

The Point'n'Click community is already very small and has to stick together to support Indi devs if we want to enjoy these kind of games in the future. And 10 bucks are more than fair for this little treat. I feel bad that Ive been gifted this game and didnt had to pay for it but Im definitely gonna buy some more copies for my friends and also the upcoming sequel.

Early Access Review
Lets rewind, shall we ?
Its 2000 again, Im a young buck and back in Germany to buy my favourite video-game magazine, called CBS - "Computer-Bild-Spiele".
This magazine would be issued every month and it would include a CD with free games, one of them being "Chicken Invaders 2- The Next Wave".
Long story short, I was instanly hooked and started to play all the other remaining games. What a blast.

If you ask me, "Chicken Invaders" became somehow the "Space Invaders" of Gen Z.
Something so satisfying about killing those darn chickens and eating those crispety&crunchety fried chicken wings.

And let me tell you something about the ingame store. Sure, you can buy the best equipment without spending a single minute ingame if youre willing to purchase stuff with real money but youre also free to unlock almost every spaceship/weapon you want without spending a single buck.
It will take some time until youre able to afford all those things but its worth it and absolutely doable.

Im almost 40 hours in, and thanks to the CI-community, Im already maxed out.
To be honest, Im even thinking about to purchase the Chicken Hunter License. Not because I need it, but to support the devs.

I hope to see you guys ingame for a multiplayer session.
Until then, have a clucky cluck cluck day. :)

Can you imagine a world, where you buy a offline-game, and your ability to play it lies a 100 % on the maintenance status of a rinky dink server, deep down in the swamps of Texas ?

No ?, Then let me introduce you to my world.
And Im not even starting with all the ingames crashes, famous "ERR_GFX_STATE"-errors, "out of memory"-errors, HDR crashes and whatnot,
Im just talking about the simple ability to play a game, which you own.
Am I f**** stoonad or what ?

Sitting here since almot 24 hours without a working Rockstar Launcher, because they need to publish a "remastered" game, which btw looks like ...... by all standards and especially when you take a look on a beutifully modded San Andreas (thanks to an engaged community), which brings their entire server-system to a halt.

Almost 2022, guys.....
First GTA was released around 97' and people played it without Internet connection. Crazy, right ?.....

Im done, man. Thats it. Ill buy Rockstar games in future, but I will also leech them, so Im able to play offline the next time, when Rockstar goes into maintenance mode.

Game rocks, by the way. Its choice, more art than a game. 10/10.
Publisher sucks immeasurably though. -10/10

I grew up with Olympic video games on PC and Ive never cared about the reviews, because I enjoyed them. Not a fan of the Mario Olympic games though (or Steep). No matter if Salt Lake 2002, Beijing 2008 or my favourite one, London 2012, they all had pretty decent graphics and most importantly, very beginner friendly.
The perfect game to play with friends, even if theyve never touched a video game. Thats what you expect from Arcade . The only downside was the short playtrough. It took you around 1-2 hours to beat the main Olympic campaign and that was it. There was no motivation to play it further, because nobody gives a damn about unlocking an alternate outfit. Later olympic games had Multiplayer to keep users hooked&entertained but there was barely anyone who played it and it took about half an hour to find an opponent.

And Im afraid that could happen to Tokyo 2020 too, because its biggest weakness is the price. You cant charge 35-40€ for a casual game, which only includes a bunch of minigames . That doesnt work, if you dont have a big community which actively plays this game, because youll need them for the MP-lobbies.
I mean I would pay 30 €, but only if its guarenteed that other people will buy it too and thats a thing you cant predict.

It would be a SHAME, if this game goes down, because it makes so much fun. And Im not talking about the funny costumes and customisable characters which make you laugh every time, youll see a new crazy character in MP, (youll even watch the replay after the game, because it looks so satisfying) but rather about the gameplay.
Sure, not every one of them is perfect, and that is totally fine, but the majority of games give you the option, on how deep you want to dig in. It is totally your choice, if you want to stick to the arcade or advanced controls. (like Baseball, Judo, BMX, Sport Climbing, etc.).

I hope people dont believe everything they read in the review section, because its WAY more easy, if youre not a total clutz. And even if you are, it doesnt take too much time to get used to each discipline.
Im torn apart between waiting a few weeks to see if other people will buy&play it or to buy it right away. Like alreadymentioned, it is everything I expect from a competetive casual Arcade game. This is really as good as it gets.

I hope to see some of you guys out there in Toyko. Im sure well have a good time, if people give it a chance and Sega reduces the price to reach more people.

Citius, altius, fortius ;)

edit : 28.01.19 / The main story does work but 2x achievements are broken and you cant unlock the whole story/cards.Its been a while now......
///
- Me after 2-4 hours Reigns:GOT (while quitting multiple times) -> F* it. Everything scripted and random. Cant even survive 20 damn moons. Very weak mechanics.
- Me after 4-8 hours Reigns:GOT -> Okay.ok. I get it. Mechanics are not THAT dumb, and there might be a bigger storyline behind unlocking characters and the good old 3-eyed raven. Lets give it a go.
- Me after 8+ hours Reigns:GOT -> HELL YEAH. F* that White Walker. BRACE URSELF : Achievements are pouring !

There may be many rumours about scripted deaths, bad working mechanics and bad game-balance, but if u_r able to overcome this "turning point" between pure desperation and getting behind the mechanics, you can have at least 20+ hours of joy for a small amount of silver. ;)

The perfect game for re-watching Game of Thrones while drinking some wine (I prefer Arbor Gold ;) )
Once you_ve unlocked all 9 characters, you've got to spend even more time, to unlock the main story and survive the winter with every single character on a individual way.

Besides all that, its now time for the closing credits : (sponsored by House Mormont - Winter is Coming - Hold my bear.) Did you get it ?! Did you ? ....-_-'

A bear there was
A bear, a bear
All black and brown
And covered in hair

Three boys, a goat
And a dancing bear
They danced and spun
Up to the fair

How sweet she was
And pure and fair
The maid with honey
Up in her hair

He smelled her all
On the summer air
The maid with honey
Up in her hair

Damn it to hell.......
I mean, it´s just like, you´re buying something, to hurt yourself mentally over and over again.
The music, the unique depressive atmosphere, (can be compared to Valiant Hearts), the opportunity to get at least 1% experience of the senseless harm, which millions and millions people are suffering from, all over the world.

It´s something, you dont think about, while eating burgers and hotdogs, sittin' in comfortable armchairs and playing "War-Games" on the internet.

WE call it "game". The suppressed people all over the world will call this "reality".

Amazing game. Would recommend it to everyone.
Just buy it, also donate the War Child Charity, and start a new game on your own. Just you, and this game.

------------------------------------------------------

EDIT : Would also recommend the "Little Ones"-DLC and "Father's Promise", but you won't need them desperately. The main game brings the full feeling of sadness in an abandoned world, and the community&developer, kept the game with lovely mods alive, since it was released.
So feel free, to take a look inside the workshop.

Both DLCs are working with a new "heart touching" element, which would even bring the hardest son of a goat to tears -> children@war <- . TwoM at itself, visualizes some feelings of war, which you can't really put in words. There's a huge difference between real depression and "just a game", and at least a few inches, between a "bad" and a "good" game.
So when you add some innocent beings, like animals, children, s.o , it usually gets more intensive.

Can't help myself, but you get in a really strange mood, after playing a while.....Got Onions ?
