last time I posted on this profile was way back in 2016. I was a wee young lad since then, and I just want to thank you for you and everyone else's work on UCH awhile ago. You guys gave me a bunch of memories I won't ever forget, and I hope you all are doing well.

Cheers for that mate, your an absolute lad! I was able to get a server running with my friend and was able to find that GMA File Extractor (GMad). Thanks for your help in directing us on where to go!

Oh yeah, if you do it with steamcmd and all, you need to port forward on your router or use something like Hamachi (I don't really recommend it though).

There's alot more to that for hosting a server properly, but since it's a private server, you don't need to know everything. You can either do that which is the most stable way but a bit more complicated.

Or you can start up a "listen server" which is basically starting it up directly in gmod, just set the gamemode and the number of players when you select "Start game" and check peer-to-peer if you don't want to deal with port forwading. UCH is kinda buggy when it's hosted like that though, the code is an absolute mess. The original authors and myself weren't "great coders" back then, no offenses to aska and flux :P

It's been a while since I've done it but this is what I remember

First thing you need to do is get steamcmd, which is basically a command-line version of Steam, and download gmod dedicated server.
First command you gotta do is "login anonymous" and then afterwards "app_update 4020". You can find more info there : https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD

When it's done, you basically got a basic server running with sandbox, you gotta put the content of UCH in there (Gotta extract the gma of uch with a certain tool that I forgot the name of) and then set the server to automatically launch with uch (Go in cfg/autoexec.cfg and add "gamemode ultimatechimerahunt").

That's pretty much the basics, the steamcmd page I sent probably has everything you need to know, when it's all done just launch srcds.exe and this will launch a GUI to manage the server. Gotta know the basic commands like changelevel and stuff like that but it's pretty simple when you get the hang of it.

Hey mate, sorry to bother you out of the blue but I thought I would come to the source since I can't seem to find any information online.

My mates trying to get a UCH server running so a bunch of friends can get in a game or two but he can't find any tutorials on how to set one up. Wondering if you might know of any tutorials or guides that still exist on how to get a UCH Server online, I'd help him but I got no idea how to get a server running.

Also, I just wanted to say I loved playing UCH back in High School, it was an absolute blast of a time to play and will be some of the best memories I've had in Gmod!

Hey, I doubt you remember me or even know who I am, but I played a lot of UCH back in the day. When I was around 12-16 years old I grew up on it and made so many memories in your server. I am now 19 and it still pops in my head from time to time, all the fun times I had and all the people I got to meet. I wanted to leave this comment and say that I hope you are doing well and to thank you for those amazing memories.
