Give it another 20 years skip then maybe I'll forget what good source mods are like and praise this mediocrity.

You know "The Call Of Cthulhu"? Congratulations, you know how this game ends without any surprises.

Dredge is far from terrible and despite everything looks fantastic. It's just not what I'd pay much for.

Game runs out of steam in gameplay mechanics 2 hours in. Get your rod/cage/net and the rest is busy work through "quests" that 80% essentially boils down to "That fish/object you would usually just sell, give it to that person instead". Upgrade aren't exciting, they just allows you to do the same thing again, only slightly less menially.

Panic is irrelevant unless maxed, threats are insignificant at best, inconvenient at worst (Bump wall; break engine). Corrupted fishes, although cool to look and read the ominous lore, are also simply more valuable fish to sell. Journal entries provide just as little information for the exploration as for the narrative.

It just kinda gets boring...

Great first person puzzle game attached with a plot driven by various philosophy topics that surprisingly feels thought provoking more than pretentious, if you get deep into it.

If you want a greater challenge, going for the hidden stars and various Easter eggs has you thinking outside the box in creative or incredibly far ways. It truly shows the Serious Sam developers, with how much they enjoyed adding secret to their levels, got to go all out on this one.
