All the bad and none of the good of an old school shooter.

Old school shooter positives:
Excellent level design with fun to explore secrets
Carry as many weapons as there are in the game at once
Fast paced action
Well designed puzzels

Old school shooter negatives:
Circle strafe boss fights
Back tracking
First person platforming
Terrible Humor
Badly designed puzzels

Duke nukem forever has all of the latter and none of the former.

Best multiplayer fps ever made.

Great concept and executed well, however from someone that has played many adventure games, the puzzles seemed quite easy. That said, I think getting stuck in a puzzle game is a good thing, so take that how you will.

You can decapitate people with a dagger. Or maybe it was a very short sword, either way, decapitations and head explosions are a common occurrence.
