It's a little rough around the edges and up its own ass, but hey, aren't we all?

a really great twist on the vampire survivors formula. Feels great to play, sucks hours out of your life.

however! its personality is *entirely* meme-driven. "monke." "succ." "him skill issue." "gigachad." you get the idea. i want to take the developer and shake them by the shoulders and beg them to try to come up with an original joke if their game is going to be "funny." call me a boomer or whatever but jesus tapdancing christ i can barely stand to read a word of text in this thing.

Gets a positive review *only* because the rest of the game works so well, and that's acknowledging that most of the good ideas in the game, well... poncle and hopoo had 'em first.

I haven't been too deep into this game, just past the first set of optional puzzles. If you are looking for something related to musical modular synthesis, this is not that. It is more logic-focused using the Eurorack modular standards as a framework.

If you are expecting the polish of a Zachtronics game--I might call this a Zach-like--that can vary. The writing is not as good as I would expect from Zachtronics. However, the interface and puzzle design are completely on par with something I would expect from them.

I recommend this game because I wanted to challenge myself to think more closely about modular synthesis, and I got what I was expecting. However, I don't think this game is for everyone, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to someone who was only interested because it is similar to a Zachtronics game.

I hope I see more from this developer, though, and I'll be keeping an eye on their work in the future.

Early Access Review
Spin Rhythm owns. There's only 15 tracks so far, but the mechanics are so, so solid. If you have even a passing interest in rhythm games, check this out.

Being an adult sucks. You have to go to work every day, there are a thousand things to worry about, and for me, video games just don't grab me like they used to. I'll play something for a few hours, then move on without any sort of deaire to spend more time with it. It's been this way for years, and it makes me sad.

So when I say this game has completely infected my brain, understand that I mean that in the most glowing, positive way.

Kenshi is difficult to describe. It takes influence from a staggering variety of genres and weaves them together to make something really special. It's like someone played Morrowind and thought "what if this was more like The Sims if The Sims was an RTS that feels kinda like Factorio?" Worried about how hardcore it sounds? Turn on a couple cheat mods from the Workshop, save scum a bit, and I promise you'll still have a good time.

The graphics look dated, but the game is not ugly by any stretch of the imagination. That allows the game its massive scope. I spent all weekend playing, built a tiny settlement for a few guys, kept myself in one small area, and there's a HUGE map to explore. I haven't even scratched the surface of all the different things I could accomplish, but I can feel a real sense of progression and achievement just starting out.

Anyway, I could ramble on forever. If you have any interest at all in open world, find-your-own-fun games, this is a must-play. If you loved the mystery and world building of Morrowind and wish Bethesda would return to that sort of thing, this is a must-play. If you're the sort of person who loves minmaxing and theorycrafting in RPGs, this is a must-play.

Just play Kenshi!
