Found this lurking in my library from what must have been a humble bundle years ago. Not bad, but no work of genius either. Gameplay is serviceable. Story is a fairly unsubtle metaphor for having an alcoholic parent/authority figure in a way that feels like it was meant for a younger audience. Like, give this to an eight year old who is going through this, kind of thing.

Three outta five.

Says "playable" but doesn't actually run on my steam deck. May re-purchase after verification.

A charming little children's story formatted as a point-and-click adventure.

A wonderful story about opening up, coping with the past, and relying on your friends. The characters are engaging and sincere and I wanted to get to know them better from the jump.

There are moments where things turn a little mawkish, as though the writers found themselves at a crossroads where they could choose wholesome or earnest and chose wholesome, but t'ain't nothin' perfect.

The gameplay is almost meditative. The story is compelling. There's not a lot else to say without spoiling the experience.

Pros:
-Charming art style
-Puzzles can be legitimately engaging
-Short

Cons:
-Characters are just generally obnoxious douchebags
-Puzzles can be profoundly obtuse
-Leans way too hard on the idea that swearing a cuss is funny all on its own

I wanted to like this game, I really did. But the game just has a general bad attitude that's sort of offputting; it thinks it's being lighthearted about it, but it's really not. The art is fantastic and unique, and I'm not saying there's no place for swearing in cartoons, but swearing is really like 99% of what this game has to offer. Most of the characters are interesting in concept but super unlikeable in execution.

The puzzles are kind of hit-or-miss. They'll either immediately make perfect sense, or else they'll stump you entirely. The game offers no feedback about whether or not you're on the right track with any given puzzle, leaving you to turn as sailor-mouthed as the game while it just stares at you blankly.

If you're going to buy this game, wait for a sale; it's worth like two bucks at best.

I love this game. It's wonderfully relaxing and beautiful. There are other games that have got more hours but I'll always come back to Slime Rancher.

It's pretty cute. The humor is fun and the art style is charming. I think it's good that it's fairly short, though; I don't know that it could really carry a longer game, I think a couple hours is just about right for this jaunt.

Buy it on sale if you're gonna.

Pros
- Has dogs
- One character is basically George Costanza and therefore kind of amusing in being pathetic

Cons
- The dogs are racist
- Seinfeld was not a very funny show
- Dorothy
- Boring conversations with dull characters
- DOROTHY

All those positive reviews must have been playing a completely different game because there was nothing deep or thought-provoking about this experience. The conversations are basically just exposition dumps, with which the taciturn protagonist only engages enough to encourage other characters to keep dumping. They're not interesting dumps either; nor are they quick. When Jill does engage or show some emotion, it doesn't feel earned, because she's given so few ♥♥♥♥♥ up to now.

Dorothy is a special and unique pile of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ but, short version, there is a reason pedophilia is not a niche the sex work industry admits to catering to, and the only healthy outlet for pedophilia urges is to see a psychiatrist about them so you can work on not having them.

This is an excellent game! The characters are charming and funny, but also they will steal your heart and hide it away under a mountain and you'll have emotions forever.
