A very underrated game, largely due to the base game lacking genuine civilisation differences and base game lacking satisfying unit battles. All those sins, where rectified in the Rising Tide DLC, which transformed this game into a very enjoyable experience.

Unfortunately, by the time of the DLC release, many strategy game players had stop playing Beyond Earth and due to the lack sales for the DLC or residual income from this IP, it ended up being mothballed and no successor is likely. A sad loss for everyone.

Disable SMT and run on the physical cores you want for those older games.

A welcome return to form for the franchise.

Easy to pick up the game controls and easy enough to play with keyboard and mouse.

Enough missions to quickly level up the starting Ship.

High settings and Medium AA settings completely stable on Ryzen 2700X and Vega 64.

Quick Post Release Patch sorted out some launch bugs and it appears to working well one day after launch.

Ultra settings and highest AA still unstable, but there is very little visual difference at those more demanding settings.

Gameplay is engaging and a lot of community preferences have been added back into this release.

This game has been largely converted in copycat of many other game. All of the tightness of each zone of play has disappeared. There is a huge amount of running or sprinting around maps or zone and this makes it completely different from the 2013 release. .

Most of the neatness, tidiness and compactness of the 2013 game has disappeared, which made that release so pleasing to play and rewarding experience.

Worth playing, but does feel like another grind and rinse for upgrades game on unnecessarily huge maps.

The joy of this game, is in the tightness of each zone of play. The way the game rectifies this by building upwards and downwards, which means their is minimal running around fields or maps.

Not having to do a lot of pointless running about a map, makes it feel fresh and recaptures some of those fun aspects earlier computer games. There is nice neatness, tidiness and compactness to this game that makes it pleasing to play and reward to experience.

Well, worth playing.

As with all the Galactic Civ games, the Evil benefits are ridiculously overpowered. Obviously, the games developers seem to have an unusually fond love for the bad guys in their strategy games. LOL

Playing the Dark Avatar can be a tortures of figuring out when or when not to switch research into Extreme Colonisation that Galactic Civilisation II Dark Avatar expansion pack did. The Twilight Amour Expansion pack for Galactic Civ II is not worth playing.

As with any strategy game, it is only a mathematical run through! So, don't expect it to hold any significance, other than a engaging workout to keep those binary based brain cells in good and healthy working order. LOL
