Highly Recommended - The VR Co-op Shooter We've Been Waiting For!

My buddy and I are both in our 40s and absolute fanatics when it comes to online VR co-op shooters. I'm ex-military, he's a hardcore gamer, and we both run serious rigs (Bigscreen Beyond headsets, RTX 5090/4080 Super, 3D printed gun stocks for Index controllers). We've been eagerly awaiting Zero Caliber 2 Remastered, and I'm happy to report it delivers.

Initial Technical Hiccup (Resolved)

Full transparency: I initially ran into issues getting the game to launch on my RTX 5090 system. However, the devs were lightning-fast and addressed this in their first patch. I haven't personally verified the fix yet since I switched to my 4080 Super PC, which has been running the game nearly flawlessly, but major props to XREAL Games for the quick response.

The Good Stuff

This game is fantastic. It's action-packed, visually stunning, and an absolute blast in co-op. The graphics are genuinely AAA-quality - we're talking proper PCVR visuals that take full advantage of high-end hardware and hi-res headsets. The weapon variety is excellent, and every gun handles beautifully with satisfying weight and recoil. Playing through the campaign with a friend on Veteran difficulty has been some of the most fun we've had in VR this year.

Not Perfect, But Close

I've encountered a few instances of freezing and crashes, but they're infrequent enough not to ruin the experience. The enemy AI is solid but has room for improvement - more on that below.

Bottom Line: If you love VR FPS games, especially co-op experiences, this is an easy recommendation. It's clear the devs put real effort into making a proper PCVR title, not a lazy port.

Feature Requests & Feedback for the Devs:

We've been discussing some improvements that would elevate this game even further:

1. Secondary Weapon Holster Position
Please add the ability to switch the secondary weapon spot to the left side of the vest. With physical gun stocks, it's inefficient to cross over to grab pistols from the right side. A left-side option would massively improve weapon switching flow.

2. "Nightmare" Difficulty
While Veteran is challenging at first, we're getting better quickly and starting to dominate. We're literally praying for a "Nightmare" or "Hardcore+" difficulty mode for players who want that extra brutal challenge.

3. Slide Mechanic
A tactical slide (run + crouch) would add fantastic dynamic movement options - sliding into cover, akimbo sliding attacks, the works. This is a staple in modern FPS games and would fit perfectly here.

4. AI Improvements
- Enemies don't react realistically to suppressing fire. In real combat, sustained cover fire pins people down. Right now they largely ignore it.
- Balancing issue: Sometimes you can barely peek from cover without getting instantly sniped from extreme distances, yet other times AI feels too passive. Needs more consistency.

5. Co-op Reconnection Issues
When one player crashes and rejoins, all mission progress and stats are lost. This is incredibly frustrating. Please implement a system to preserve progress/stats when reconnecting to an active co-op session.

6. Enhanced Gun Stock Calibration
The virtual stock support works decently out of the box, but we need per-weapon calibration adjustments (like Contractors has). Different rifles and scopes don't always align perfectly with physical stocks. Being able to fine-tune position and angle for each weapon would be huge for us gun stock users.

Final Verdict:
Despite a few rough edges, Zero Caliber 2 Remastered is the real deal. XREAL Games clearly cares about the PCVR community, and we're excited to see where they take this with future updates.

Recommended for:
VR enthusiasts with decent hardware, co-op shooter fans, anyone tired of arcade-style VR shooters
Best played:
With a friend on Veteran difficulty, using a gun stock if you have one.

👍
Would recommend!

If the devs implement even half of these feature requests, this could easily become THE definitive VR military shooter. Keep up the great work!
