This is just sad. I'm really struggling to find anything positive about this game.

Price is on more expensive (AAA) side, around 70~110 euro. Worst thing is, that is not all.
There are DLC characters which are around 8 euro per character. And if you do not get them, you are in disadvantage, because you can't practice against DLC characters in offline modes. To add salt into injury, you’ll constantly see DLC character’s face in main menu so you do not forget about him. So if you wanna get good, pay up or find a friend who owns him and ask him for help. Now let's make it a lot worse.
There is Tekken Shop, another monetization. You can buy costumes for character and stuff for your avatar. Of course you can't get exact in-game currency and you need to overpay for what you want (400 Tekken Coins per item --> you can only buy 500 Tekken Coins for 4.99 euro). That seems to be reason, why customization feels more bare bone then in Tekken 7. I find timing of releasing Tekken shop incredibly scummy. It happened few months after release and good community reception. But hey, still not done, now there is Battle pass too!
Battle pass cost 600 Tekken Coins (real cost is 1050 Tekken Coins for 9.99 euro) that you have to grind or get Battle pass and 20 levels for 2000 Tekken Coins(real cost is 2120 Tekken Coins for 19.99 euro). Items, you get from battle pass or shop are too expensive for what you get. Also do not forget to get Tekken Shop and Battle pass items before they disappear forever(fear of missing out). I really find important to write it all down, just so you can see clearly what kind of microtransaction hell awaits you.

Alright, how about online?
It is really mixed bag of netcode doing great and giving up its life. Doesn't matter if you are connected via cable. Sometimes it just refuses to work properly. It is still improvement over Tekken 7 netcode.
You probably heard quite a lot about plugging and cheating, which is sadly still unresolved to this date. But hey, you can report players via Twitter(x) with #TekkenReport. To be fair, there is in-game reporting but why would devs recommend reporting people for cheating/plugging in Tekken 8 on social media? What about mass unjust reporting of non-Tekken players? How about faked evidence?
Lobbies are pain to find and interacting with. Adding Tekken friends is just too difficult (player ID style, which is long and you have to write down, manually if you didn’t interact with them in-game before via online).

To this date, balance is questionable. Some characters are too oppressive, some I totally forgot they are in game. I really do not wanna comment much on this, this will change and rebalancing updates are common thing nowadays. For now, it is not great.

I was already quite pessimistic, thanks to Tekken 7 powercreep DLC characters and paid frame data display. But I didn’t expect it go so bad. Well done, you made it even worse then I thought. I can’t really bring myself to play it. Game have solid mechanics, great community, good oflline modes, replays and tools to make you better but it is being dragged down thanks to questionable decisions of developers/publisher.
