Thoughts on new world after reaching "end game"

At launch, to me New World was fun for three major reasons.

  1. The first was that the beginning zones were extremely unique and interactive and it seemed as though the main quest line was going to be a major factor in the completion of this game, I was wrong about that, before patch 1.1 I believe it was possible to reach level 25 within ~8 hours of playtime in the game through various methods including crafting, questing, refining, gathering, and doing town boards (quests with gathering involved). I was led to believe that in order to progress through the various level caps (1-25/25-35/35-40/40-45/45-55/55-60+) you must go to dedicated zones within your level range, this was really intriguing to me because I thought these zones would have a major effect on the play of this game (not necessarily untrue as you reach "end game content") the glaring issue is that many of these zones are absolutely useless except when doing side quests which have no effect on the main content of the game which is fairly normal. When I reached level 60 I had never even been in Mourningdale and still rarely go there. Map interaction is not the reason for my negative review.
  2. The second reason I loved New World was because of the almost entirely player based economy within the game, the trading post was a fun idea and showed a lot of promise but as of writing this New World duplication exploits have destroyed the economy of many servers including mine, the entire trading post is entirely shot with no real light at the end of the tunnel in sight. Each time a server goes down for maintenance to fix the trading post and duplication exploits another one pops up in the next update causing for a vicious cycle of coin transferal being disabled in a game based entirely around coin transferal among players This is a huge reason for my negative reason but not the main one...
  3. The the third and final reason was that the grind for level 60 was extremely fun for me, dungeons, elite zones, and expeditions were so fun, and that insatiable want to play more to reach the coveted level 60 followed me daily, then I reached level 60 and upon reaching it I realized how redundant the end game content is, The HWM (High Water Mark) system in this game is unreasonably confusing and as of writing this, there's no way to track it unless you do it yourself. To give you a basic rundown of this system, once you reach level 60 and kill things at or above that level, your base watermark is set to 500 and this WM randomly increases as you kill more and more mobs 60+ .

I don't recommend this game in its current state unless you have masochistic tendencies and a thing for neglect. As of patch 1.1 they made progression for new players and end game players alike 10x harder, and despite the mass of players leaving feedback saying that they don't like these changes, AGS is still holding firm to this idea that the changes they made benefit the player base, in all actuality they created a placebo of more endgame content by making the already excruciating grind in crafting and WM harder for everyone alike by buffing mobs and lowering loot tables while nerfing classes dedicated to support and sustainability i.e tanks and healers Shattered Mountain the endgame zone is no longer a viable option because the mobs are too difficult to defeat or worth dealing with repair fees associated with the deaths you endure while fighting these mobs. The people who chose to grind out crafting and WM now hold a monopoly on the market all because of patch 1.1

TL;DR

Amazon doesn't listen to the player base before making massive changes to in game progression and it will kill their game.
