Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms (or Idle Champions) is an idler game with a Dungeons & Dragons theme to it.
In Idle Champions you use a roster of 50+ champions to create different formations of champions to battle your way through various campaign missions. Champions fall into one of 4 categories: Tanking, Healing, DPS and Support. Each Champion has a specific class that allows for certain abilities to be used and a certain race. In addition to all these there are feats and unique equipment that enhances the champions abilities even further. All of this allows for a large amount of customization when creating formations.
Gameplay consist of taking a formation of champions through various missions, some based off of popular characters and stories from the D&D franchise. Each main mission often has several variants with different requirements or challenges that need to be met in order for the variant mission to be completed. Completing missions or variants will reward the player with gems, champions, honor and sometimes chest which contain useful gear and buffs.
When running missions the player accrues a special form of currency known as honor that the player can either horde to obtain more gold and thus get father in levels and acquire more gold and honor, or they can spend some or all of it to obtain special buffs that will give the player certain lasting advantages throughout gameplay.
Regularly there are special events that take place. These events allow the player the chance to earn new champions, champion specific gear and special buffs in the form of even/character related achievements.
Time Gates are a special feature that allow the player to earn champions and gear from achievements relating to former events. Events that may have been missed out on. This is a nice feature that gives new player the ability to earn champions from the past without feeling like they are missing out on certain elements of gameplay or certain features.
Like all free to play games though, there is a premium currency in the form of gems. Certain bundles are also available only for cash purchase. Most of the bundles are cosmetic in nature though. The one feature that really sets this game apart from many other free to play games however is that nearly everything in the game is farmable. With almost 300 hours in game also, if there is a pay wall, I have yet to hit it.
One of the biggest advantages that Idle Champions has to it as well, is the active community. In games codes for free chest, live streams, faqs, events and many other features are constantly ongoing and being updated.
Overall the game is a great idle/time killer that you will more than likely find yourself actively playing.
