It's funny to see IGN gave this game a better score than MKW.

For real though this is one of the best kart racers on the market right now. Like it's feel and control is like a dream.
it make for the lackluster TSR with a better roster that get a new character at least every month, much more fun gimmicks with the crossworlds & gadgets and a proper post launch support which even transformed didn't have.

Now sure there are some issues like randomly get disconnected, not much singleplayer content besides GP, RP & TT, the balancing can be a little wack and the $70 price point is a bit high but I think the game itself makes up for it and few things listed here likely be not much an issue in the future with patches and discounts.

this game have a bright future and can't wait to see what's the rest of year 1 and what's year 2 and maybe 3 gonna be like.

Last thing, Sega why you haven't made the Werehog DLC (and other Sonic games' pre-order DLCs) to be bought after the game's launch? I have it due pre-ordering the game but I think people shouldn't miss out on a whole character and car because they missed out on pre-ordering. Plus Sega you actually have the pre-order DLC for the yakuza/Like A Dragon games to be up for purchase after the games' launch, So yea that's pretty odd to see this weird double standard.

Frontiers is the latest mainline 3D Sonic game at the time when time review was posted and took five years to make. Was it worth the wait? Yeah, at least to me and most other people that played it.

The gameplay is pretty solid with the combat being simple but fun with the mini bosses being most different from each other and movement feels nice in the open zone, especially when you can change how Sonic feels. movement in the cyberspace levels can be sluggish but not a deal breaker for the most place (mainly the 3D cyberspace levels). Also allowing you to pick and choose what stuff to do in any order is nice.

The open zones are great (minus Chaos island kinda), they're the right size that they don't feel empty. The cyberspace levels can be a bit of a mixed bag, while they do reuse older levels but for the most part they're not bad, the 2D cyberspace levels are the weakest part of the game but you can just skip them if you want. The pop-up is annoying but it's not the end of the world.

The main story is pretty good for the most part especially after the weak stories from Colours, Lost World & Forces. For the mini arcs for Amy, Knuckles & Tails. I think that Amy's is the weakest of the three, her character feels somewhat flat and her arc of "Wanting to share her love with the world" is just meh, shame because she's my fav Sonic character and while I know the story was more focused on the mystery of the island during the first island but I wish her character & arc had the same amount of care as the other two. Knuckles has the best one and his interactions with Sonic is great. Tails' character & arc is alright but it's very much a course correction after how he was in Forces and the "I'm wildly inconsistent" line is dumb. There's some stuff in that didn't work with me like some of the pointless call backs to older games and how few of the cyberspace stuff doesn't get explained that well in main story without going into spoilers but overall it's a nice story that actually commit to the stuff that's in it like the chaos emerald lore.

The music is pure peak Sonic music with having 7 great vocal tracks like "Undefeatable" & "I'm here" and tons of other music track like the mini bosses themes and "I'm with you". Do I need to say more?

The Titan fights is game's highlights and I feel like the game having 4 Super Sonic fights is making up for the 2010 games not having them. While I do think that the last Titan fight and true final boss could of been better but at least it's not Egg Wisp for the 4th time. Also the game's director comparing the Super Sonic transformation to Kamen Rider is based.

The Final Horizon update brings new playable characters, extra story & a new final boss. does the update ends Frontiers on a high note? Well...

First the story since it's the short part of it, it's on the same level as the base game's and it's still good but I have some issues like Amy, Knuckles & Tails' role in it is a little lacking & again my fav character Amy isn't much herself in this, some cyberspace stuff doesn't get explained and The End's impact is lessened since it's monologue is gone. Still the story is good, just wish it was bit better.

for the 3 new playable characters, Amy is the best of the three, have a triple jump & glide, her high jump a card bike & her courses are fun & challenging. they did her justice here but I wish more her moves used her hammer. Knuckles is pretty alright but his glide is gimped somewhat and lacked some extra combat moves. Tails is good but damn her becomes busted when you get his cyclone, it just destroys any challenge of his courses.

for Sonic's side of gameplay. the new cyberspace levels are top notch, very little automation and very tough but fair. the tower climbs are bit of a pain (espcially tower 4) but I found turning down top speed & boost speed makes it somewhat easier but still wish there was at least one checkpoint for each. the trials are hard but not too bad though the final one on hard mode is kinda too far (a 8 frame parry is too little). The new final boss is very great though it confused me at first but when I found out what & how to do 2 things I need to do, the fight was then smooth sailing after then. the animations in it were amazing.

So yea, the update does end frontiers on a high note even with some issues. Oh nearly forgot about the new music, it's all bangers.

The 2 prev released updates have made a pretty good game even better with new modes, new outfits, a harder mode, new game +, QOL changes and the Spindash that is broken but in the best fun way.

Morio & Sonic Team truly put their heart & soul into this game and last time I felt that was with Unleashed. It gives me so much more hope for the next 3D mainline game and Sonic future, especially when hearing the news about ST getting bigger budgets and new hires, the game's critical and financial success & Sonic's back being the face of Sega. There's still some bumps in the road like Origins plus but Sonic fans, WE ARE SO BACK.

I fully recommend buying the game if you're a Sonic fan or not, even at full price especially after all 3 updates are out. Sonic Team deserves it.

One youtuber said that "An Objectively Bad Sonic Game Doesn't Exist" but Sonic 4 Ep 1 is the objectively bad Sonic game. Why? because everything about it, to it's awful controls & physics, crappy music & graphics and even it's horrible marketing that throws every non-classic era character along with Amy & the Chaotix (even though they from the classic era) under the bus that clearly was cashing on the whole "hating on Sonic's friends" train at the time. Plus it's development show it was just meant to be a mobile game that Sega slapped a 4 on it and released it on other system which kickstarted the Classic era cash grabbing that last up to Frontiers (Superstars will be the first game since colours that will have no old returning level, it's that bad). the other bad sonic games like 06, Lost World, Rise of lyric, Forces & few others at least had one or more things that I like or respect, S4E1 have nothing that I liked or respect. Sonic 4 Ep 1 is truly soulless and is objectively the worst Sonic game, Don't buy this even as a joke (Plus this version doesn't even without download extra java stuff). Just buy Mania or Origins (even with it's bugs & denuvo, it's still more fun than S4E1) or wait for Origins plus or Superstars (especially the latter because people played the SGF demo says it's pretty good & actually faithful to the classic games).

I played this game when it came out on the Wii-U, So where do I begin with this? Well I guess I start with the good points then the bad.

"GOOD"
The gameplay while a bit tricky is pretty solid and fun, Using the wonder liner to make the unite morphs is smooth (apart from a few like hammer, bomb, glider and a special one that I can't say for spoilers). Plus you have use other morphs to deal with some types of bad guys so you can't just use hand or sword. Sometimes the gameplay changes but they never overstay their welcome and a nice change of pace. Also load time are super fast and framerate is solid.

The story is a fun cheesy love letter to tokusatsu shows like Super Sentai & Kamen Rider while still be solid story with good writing and barely any dull parts. The characters are great for the most part and I'm sure they will win you over with their fun lines, banters and charm.

The music is simply wonderful, Do I have to say more?

The graphics look nice and colourful thou some models and some textures (mainly with normal characters) look somewhat dated due to it was a 2013 Wii-U game and I know it could turn so people off.

A single normal play through last roughly 15 hours which is good length and have great amount of replayable in a form of finding collectables, other wonders and getting better ranks. for the normal price of the game it's worth it.
-----------------------------
Ok on to the...
"BAD"
Since it was on the Wii-U and used the gamepad quite a bit, In some parts you have to look at the pad's screen which make those parts more tougher in this version. While they have made a button to make the second screen open and close but TBH I would like it if they redo those parts without the second screen.

The "remaster" (I'll get to that in a sec) haven't fixed the game's big issue and that is helping the player to fully understand the controls and mechanics. While they did made the guts and spring morphs free, it still doesn't cut it. even worse that the "Loading arena" can't be used since the load time are very quick now, they should of made the arena it's own mode to help new players.

There's no way to properly rebind controls which sucks.

This is for people who didn't had the OG game on the Wii-U, so those who did can maybe skip this. The remaster is more like a somewhat touched up port of the OG game, If you hope some new things then don't be surprised that it's almost the same as the OG which kind makes it's normal price point a bit hard to swallow. I still the game does enough to worth that price point but if you still own the game on the Wii-U then maybe wait for it to go on sale.
-----------------
oh yea, also a
"OTHER THING"
I heard that some people say the game have issues with some graphical and frame rate issues but I don't want put it in the BAD in case a patch fix those issues.
--------------------
The Wonderful 101: Remastered still have the issues of the OG Wii-U release and not sure if I can call it a remaster but I think the good outshine the bad and I highly recommend this game to anyone who's up for toku styled game with unique gameplay.
