Best part of the entire game is the Quit button.... The entire team behind this game needs to go straight to jail and when they're hungry they should be forced to chase animals that hide inside rocks or run under the road.

Unfinished, Broken Games Are Being Sold for Real Money — and It's Not Okay

It’s honestly unacceptable how often unfinished and barely playable games are being sold on Steam for real money. Developers release games that are clearly incomplete, full of bugs, or missing basic features, and then they either go silent or abandon the project entirely.

Yet somehow, these titles are still allowed to be sold like full, finished products.

Steam Needs to Take More Responsibility

Slapping an "Early Access" label on something doesn’t excuse selling a broken, half-made game. Many of these games stay in early access for years, or worse — they’re never finished at all. And the players who support these projects early on are left with nothing but frustration and regret.

What Steam Is Doing Isn't Enough

Yes, Steam has taken some steps to ban scam developers, but it’s nowhere near enough. There should be:

  • Real quality control — don't allow completely broken projects onto the store
  • Stricter rules for Early Access — require minimum functionality and real progress
  • Stronger refund protections — especially for abandoned or misleading games

We’re Not Asking for Perfection

Gamers just want:

  • Games that actually work
  • Developers who actually follow through and a platform that protects its users instead of enabling scams

It’s exhausting to keep paying for titles that feel more like scams than actual games.

Steam can and should do better.

Frustrating, Bug-Filled, and Now a Cash Grab – Avoid Until Improvements Are Made

I really wanted to like Ranch Simulator. I spent over 42 hours trying to make it work, hoping the issues would get ironed out, but it’s just not worth it anymore. It started off somewhat enjoyable, but as time went on, the more the problems piled up. Now, I’m stepping away from the game, and unless significant updates are made, I have no plans to return.

Let’s start with the technical side. If you use a dual monitor setup like I do, this game can’t handle it. The lag is unbearable, and my GPU usage shoots up by 30-40%. It’s not even a graphically demanding game, yet somehow it runs horribly, especially if you have more than one screen. My system, which can handle games with far higher specs, started full-on crashing freezing, then restarting every time I tried to play Ranch Simulator. I’ve troubleshot everything, and there’s nothing wrong with my computer, so it’s clear the problem lies with the game itself. Honestly, I’m worried it might cause damage if I keep playing, so for the sake of my hardware, I’ve had to step away.

But it’s not just the technical issues; the bugs are unbearable. Some are game-breaking. My dog and cat have died twice, even though I’ve made sure they have food. My cows have given birth, and poof the newborn calf vanishes into thin air. Animals disappear from the farm and trailers, making it nearly impossible to build a functional ranch. And don’t even get me started on the car it doesn’t stop properly driving around becomes a frustrating chore because of it.

I really did try to find fun in Ranch Simulator. It has potential, especially in short bursts with friends, but that’s where the enjoyment ends. The mechanics are quirky, but they quickly become shallow. It’s a game that feels like it was made with streamers in mind something fun to showcase for a few hours, but it doesn’t offer long-term satisfaction. If you’re someone who feels the need to try every farming sim out there, maybe this game will scratch that itch especially if it’s on sale but for the price it’s asking, it’s not worth it.

This is not the developer’s first game, and it shows. Toxic Dog has released other titles that suffer from the same lack of polish and care. At this point, it feels like they’re just churning out games with minimal effort. After waiting over two years for updates during its early access phase, Ranch Simulator has barely improved. The most recent updates have been incredibly disappointing. Instead of fixing the game, Toxic Dog and publisher Excalibur Games decided to release a paid DLC that locks features behind a paywall that should’ve been part of the base game. That’s right a paid DLC for content that should have been in the game from the start.

This move is not just frustrating it feels like a slap in the face to anyone who supported the game early on. Instead of focusing on improving the core experience, the developers are doubling down on DLCs and cash grabs. The worst part? Criticizing this decision on their forums or social media has led to people being silenced or banned. This is not how you foster a healthy community, and it’s even worse when it feels like your feedback doesn’t matter at all.

Ranch Simulator was never a complete game. It had potential, but that potential is now officially dead. It’s a broken game with performance issues, repetitive gameplay, and a monetization strategy that leaves a sour taste in your mouth. I backed the game in early access hoping to see it grow, but instead, we’ve been left with a shallow, unfinished product.

It’s not a "Ranch Simulator." It’s a meat and cheese production simulator, plain and simple. The name is misleading, and the game’s current state shows that the developers have no real interest in fleshing out the ranching or farming aspects. If you’re looking for a true farming simulation, this is not it.

PS: The Building mode is bad too, please for the love of everything add snap or grid building to the game so people don't have to spend hours trying to get their buildings straight. The entire building system needs to be redone and updated to 2025 standards.

DO NOT BUY unless you enjoy paying extra for a game that was never finished, and likely never will be.

Early Access Review
As a long-time enthusiast of survival games like Stranded Deep, I was immediately intrigued when I discovered this title. I added it to my wishlist without hesitation and purchased it the moment it became available. Visually, the game is breathtaking. The environment is immersive, enhanced by beautiful lighting and dynamic weather effects. The sound design is particularly effective—no music, just the natural ambiance of crashing waves, rainfall, and distant thunder, which truly brings the island setting to life.

However, beyond the impressive presentation, the gameplay experience has been frustrating.

While I fully understand and appreciate the nature of early access development, several issues present in the current build should have been addressed by now. For instance, becoming stuck inside a player-built shelter when attempting to access the utility wheel is a recurring problem, with no reliable method to recover—unless you're near a bed and can trigger the sleep option, which occasionally helps. More often than not, the only solution is to reload a previous save, which itself can result in a crash.

Even more disheartening is the tendency for carefully gathered resources and crafted items to inexplicably vanish or fall apart without interaction. This not only disrupts progression but significantly diminishes the sense of achievement.

I genuinely want to enjoy this game. The foundation is there for what could be one of the most compelling and visually stunning survival games on the market. Unfortunately, frequent crashes, persistent bugs, and progress-breaking glitches have made it difficult to stay engaged. I’ve restarted seven times now, only to run into similar issues each playthrough. I truly hope the developers are able to resolve these problems, because there's a great game underneath—it just needs some critical refinement.

Title: Craftopia - A Whirlwind of Creativity and Chaos

Rating: 4/5

Venturing into the vibrant and ever-evolving world of "Craftopia" on Steam is akin to stepping into a kaleidoscope of creativity and chaos. Developed by POCKET PAIR, this sandbox action-adventure game seamlessly blends elements of crafting, survival, and exploration. As with any title in early access, there are areas that could use refinement, but the sheer scope of features and potential make "Craftopia" a captivating experience.

Graphics and Art Style: 4/5
One of the standout features of Craftopia is its visually appealing art style. The vibrant and diverse environments are a treat for the eyes, offering a refreshing take on the sandbox genre. Character design is charming, and the variety of creatures and biomes adds a layer of excitement to exploration. While some textures may lack polish and optimization, the overall aesthetic contributes to the game's immersive atmosphere.

Gameplay Variety: 5/5
Craftopia truly shines when it comes to gameplay variety. The game seamlessly weaves together crafting, building, farming, and combat elements, providing a rich and dynamic experience. The sheer number of items, weapons, and structures available is staggering, offering players an extensive toolkit to unleash their creativity. From taming wild animals to engaging in intense battles with formidable bosses, Craftopia ensures that every play session is a unique adventure.

Progression System: 3/5
While the game offers an extensive array of features, the progression system may feel a bit overwhelming for newcomers. A lack of clear guidance on how to navigate the vast crafting tree and unlock new technologies could leave players feeling lost. However, this complexity also adds depth to the game, providing a sense of accomplishment as players master the intricacies of the crafting system.

Multiplayer Experience: 4/5
Craftopia's multiplayer aspect is a standout feature, allowing players to collaborate with friends or join public servers for a shared adventure. The cooperative gameplay enhances the overall experience, making resource gathering, building, and combat even more enjoyable. While the netcode and server stability are generally solid, occasional lag issues can disrupt the fluidity of multiplayer sessions.

Community and Developer Engagement: 4/5
The developers at POCKET PAIR have shown commendable dedication to community engagement. Regular updates, bug fixes, and new content additions demonstrate a commitment to refining and expanding the game. The Steam forums and social media channels serve as active platforms for player feedback, fostering a sense of community involvement in Craftopia's ongoing development.

Conclusion:
"Craftopia" is a whirlwind of creativity and chaos that manages to strike a fine balance between the sandbox and action-adventure genres. While some aspects, such as the progression system, may require a bit of fine-tuning, the game's vast array of features, stunning art style, and commitment to ongoing development make it a promising and engaging experience. For players seeking a sandbox adventure with limitless possibilities, Craftopia stands as a testament to the potential of early access titles when nurtured by a dedicated development team.

Title: A Diamond in the Rough

Rating: 3/5

Embarking on the journey into the Early Access realm, I delved into the promising yet perplexing world of "Sunkenland," a game that blends survival, crafting, and co-op elements. Despite its evident potential, the experience leaves players with a mixed bag of emotions, revealing a game that is still in dire need of refinement.

Graphics and World Design: 2/5
Upon entering the sprawling open world, one cannot help but notice the glaring issues with asset implementation. It becomes apparent that many in-game elements are haphazardly copy-pasted, resulting in a lack of cohesion and immersion. The landscape often feels disjointed, with terrain and structures that seem out of place. However, the potential is there, and with some thoughtful restructuring, the game world could evolve into a visually stunning environment.

Gameplay Mechanics: 3/5
The survival and crafting mechanics in "SurviveCraft Co-Op" form the game's core, providing a solid foundation for engaging gameplay. The cooperative aspect adds a layer of complexity and teamwork that, when executed properly, contributes to an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the current state of the game is plagued by clunky controls and unpolished interactions. Crafting often feels like a chore due to a lack of intuitive interfaces, and combat encounters lack the finesse needed for a truly immersive experience.

Potential and Concept: 4/5
Beneath the surface, "SurviveCraft Co-Op" harbors a wealth of potential. The concept of an open-world survival game with a strong emphasis on cooperative play is intriguing and could set the stage for an outstanding gaming experience. If the developers invest time in refining the core mechanics, introducing unique features, and addressing the asset-related issues, the game could undoubtedly transform into a gem within the genre.

Communication and Developer Engagement: 3/5
While the game is still in its Early Access stage, player feedback and developer engagement are crucial for improvement. The development team has shown some commitment to addressing community concerns, but there's room for improvement in terms of transparency and communication. Regular updates and a more interactive approach with the player base would go a long way in fostering a supportive community and ensuring the game's evolution in the right direction.

Conclusion:
"SurviveCraft Co-Op" is a game with untapped potential, currently obscured by the shadows of unrefined mechanics and hastily implemented assets. The foundation for a captivating co-op survival experience is there, waiting to be unearthed through dedicated development efforts. While it may not be an instant hit in its current state, it's worth keeping an eye on as updates roll out and the game inches closer to its full potential. In the hands of a committed development team, this early access title could eventually shine as a true gem in the open-world survival genre.

I will continue to check back on the game regularly and see what new updates / fixes that have been implemented, I look forward to seeing what the future brings but for right now I don't believe the price tag matches what is offered when you can pay the same price for a game that is more ''Polished''. Thank you to the development team for giving us all the opportunity to give feedback and hopefully all our suggestions are taken on board.

After being diagnosed with arthritis in my neck. I had to stop playing games on my 50" TV and was advised to get myself a curved monitor. After spending an eye watering amount of money. The advise was well founded. I don't notice the neck problem too much but now I've spent last of my money on this game and got aids. Thanks
