The game is honestly very fun. I love building up my collection of variants and cards. However, the monetization is abysmal, and it's been steadily getting worse and worse over time. With this latest event, it's clear that the developers no longer care about keeping up pretenses: free things keep disappearing and being replaced with paid content, game-breaking bugs pile up, and the most the developers ever offer is a vague promise that "we're hearing your feedback" before moving on to the next attempt to squeeze more money out of the player-base. I can't in good conscience recommend anyone get into this game in this state, let alone spend any money on it.

The game may not be perfect, but it runs great and it's really fun, which is good enough for me

This game is a lot of fun, as long as you go into it with the knowledge that it's a parody, and that it's kind of on the short side.

Have you seen my review for EUIV? If not, check it out now. Come on, I'll wait.

Have you read it? Yes? Good. Now remember how it looks hard, but is easy to play once you've started? This is the opposite. If you've played EUIV, you expect this to be easy, and then your brain implodes. The amount of micromanagement is kind of scary. This is the game that convinced me that War Games (the movie set in the Cold War about the hacker), if it were ever to happen, would be Paradox's fault, most likely. It's still fun to play, but at some point you have to admit to yourself that you don't understand what half the buttons do, and you're okay with that.

Man I love this game. In this latest installment to the Mount and Blade Series (well, it's a standalone expansion to the first one, and it has it's own standalone expansion With Fire and Sword and DLC Napoleonic Wars) you can make your own character and explore a fantasy medieval world split between rival kingdoms and their faithful vassals. You start as someone who has just completed a long journey for a reason you just decided in the story background and come to this new land to make a name for yourself. You go to the capital city of one of the kingdoms (you choose) and are on your way to a good nights sleep when you get attacked by a bandit! Whether you win the fight or not (which really depends on how quickly you learn the controls) a merchant comes by and helps tend to you. He then shares that he has his own problems and so your first quest appears. And While this game is an RPG, it's made by Paradox Interactive, so you know there's a strategy bit, and there is. I mean, this is the makers of EUIV, Vicky2, HOI3, and CK2, what else did you expect? The eventual goal is to make a kingdom for yourself and get the other kings to recognize your legitimacy. Still waiting for the DLC where I can convert my save games to EUIV, though... JK

I love this game. There's no other way around it. In 3 months I've played this game more than I played Civ V in 9 months. It's so much fun. At the beggining it might seem complicated and over your head ("stability"? "manpower"? "monarch points"?!?!) But the game's core mechanics are very easy to pick up. You pick a country in a year between 1444 and 1821 (and they're all historically accurate) Pick a OP country like France, Austria, England/Great Britain, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, The Mamluks, Lithuania, Spain, Ming, or the Ottomans for your first playthrough. The real fun, though, is in playing the underdogs, like Norway, Scotland, Saxony, The Teutonic Order, Byzantium, The Papal State, and the like. No matter what country you pick, the goal is to have fun as you try and expand and guide you country to glory over the years and not get conquered. There are history inspired events, countries to form if you meet the requirements, and an easy to mod, though very in depth file structure. The modders are crazy, they think of everything. So, I suggest you buy this game when you have the chance, and maybe you can try your luck in a MP game against me? You'll probably win, but we'll have fun. Oh, and watch out for the comets ;)

This game is amazing. Just truly amazing, to the point of speechlessness. You take control of one of many Civilizations, ranging from the Americans to the Egyptians, and try to make your civilization last the test of time. There are five unique ways to win, many amazing units and strategies, and thousands of unique ways to set up a game. The multiplayer is phenomenal, the modding community is the best this side of Minecraft, and it runs amazingly smooth. This gives it many advantages over the previous games in this great series. If you want a quality strategy gaming experience with some history on the side, this is the place to go. And with the recent Brave New World Expansion (which I pre-ordered), It got WAY better.
