This is the darkest ♥♥♥♥. Alright, so our guy chucks himself into the river, which automatically sets off the insanely convoluted process of his rescue. But it's still structured as an advertisement - a corporate reel of the power of the LEGOTech - but to no obvious audience. The Lego man is forced to listen to a sequence of commercial peacocking as he drowns; his rescue is not an emergency, but an opportunity to exalt the quality of Lego products. The plight of this suicidal little Lego dude has no intrinsic value in his world. But at least through it, his society gets the chance to pat itself on the back for its virtues.

I can't put my finger on it exactly, but the coldness of Lego man's alienation really does it for me. I love his little plastic pathos. I hope they can make a tiny Lego prozac to slot into the top of his head.
