WARNING: This review could be seen as biased so take this with a grain of salt.

From the bit that i have played you can probably tell that I like the game... a lot. I don't know if its the atmosphere, the music or the roars of the massive creatures, unlike most horror games this doesn't lose its fear factor. you may know exactly where to go, how an enemy attacks, or how to avoid them you will absolutely ♥♥♥♥ you pants over and over. Not to mention when the music isn't trying to scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of you it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slaps.

The crafting in this game has a very nice progression to it, but for advanced players it can be speed up by going to specific hidden areas. There is little to no grind in this game as recipes don't take much materials, but still require enough work to make it feel like you deserved what ever you made. The crafting in this game makes sense story wise as you have sci-fi mater manipulators that create things instead of being able to make a house out of your bare hands in 10 seconds.

The story and lore to this game go hand in hand with each other and create a seamless flow between the two. This makes it feel like the player has a purpose in the story and isn't shoehorned in just as an excuse for the player to be there. The story and lore are feed to the player through exploring abandon bases of a missing space crew and left over logs of an ancient alien race that tried to stop a horrible disease (the same Kharaa bacterium as the Natural Selection games, also made by Unknown Worlds).

A few problems I do have with the game are: the lack of polish; the game tends to have random jagged geometry in places that weren't of main focus as well as some of the texture blending between biomes and different rock faces can be inconsistent, Lastly there is the optimization; don't even get me started on this, I have an Intel core i7 8700 and a ROG Geforce RTX 2070 gpu and I struggle to get above 40 fps a majority of the time and that is running on low graphics.

Take this review with a side of salt if you will as I am very biased towards survival games (them being one of my favorite genres). All in all would highly recommend anyone who is into horror, survival games as this will definitely be up your alley.

(Not to mention they are releasing a second game, Below zero)
