My current opinion on the game is favorable.

The changes they made looks like and overall upgrade to the Anno concept. The atmosphere is well made, but due to the short time there is a limit on how much you can explore.

The only thing that I have qualms with is that I have not been able to find to button to make you notify that the ship has arrived at your destination.

I like the introduction of knowledge and religion. Where with knowledge you seems to research upgrades and more (I think unlocking certain stuff but couldn't say for certain). Religion also seems nice, where you can choose a deity which provides supply chain efficiency ( So no more min-maxing with trade unions and specialists like in Anno 1800, at least from what I have seen from the limited content)

The diagonal placement is also nice to have, it will give more variety in how to build your islands.

From the presentation I can't figure out if the game has multiple sessions in a single play-through, but I am okay either way at the moment.

It is an enjoyable game with the mechanics it offers.

its not a play and relax kind of game, but one where you have to constantly pay attention or else you can end up in a situation where it is not easy to recover anymore.

However I do have to say that its a type of game which after playing a few times I won't be looking back at it.

Game is still Alive. (Online Servers as well)

Driving in Canyon is fun enough to keep coming back.

Content Activity (community) is still ongoing but not through steam workshop.
You have to search for "Trackmania 2 Exchange"

Edit: Still valid on 24/07/2025

I want to say kinda depends, but I am leaning more to the no than to yes....

its nice to play it for the first run. But after having a successful run, I personally didn't feel for it for going at it again. The attempts that I did try ending up with.

*sigh* why bother.

So keep that in mind when making your decision.

The game looks appealing, The atmosphere is nice. But after playing it once, I tried to do another round, but the progression is too slow for my taste to replay it.

This game doesn't provide the constant kick like you would get in high paced games like COD recent BF installations and Apex Legends. But for a more slow paced setting where your perception, patience, coordination and teamwork is getting tested. Thus you have to play this game different from the common FPS games. To get the best out of the team its important that communication through voice-chat is common place and that you stick together when moving.

For those who pick up the reigns of Squad Leader, its important to get a plan in order which your squad can carry out. But that you can also coordinate with other squads to carry our the objective.

Personally on top of that I think this game also helps with the development of real life soft skills.

I had it with this game. They have 2 prior titles where they could seen how to properly do balance. But no every release its the same issue. Horrible Balance for 3-4 years and after that they find a good balance.

From this point onward, I don't expect anything positive from Relic anymore.

I have given the game the benefit of the doubt, but it doesn't feel right for me.

The seasons go to fast to my liking, the graphical style is again not to my personal liking. Buildings work with a grid style. Too much control over how you distribute your workforce. And personal opinion, It doesn't value your time.

It feels for me like the game "Banished" but a + version of it.

And I can't help but compare these games to Settlers 6 specifically, not the same game I know. But its just the type of game I am looking for.

edit: I was also spoiled with a game of better execution, but its still in development which is "Manor Lords"

So its an incompatibility issue between me and the game.

Spellforce : Conquest of Eo Is not what I consider a bad game. However its just doesn't suit my taste. I was quite interested at the beginning and trying to work out the milestones to hit to make progress. But a bit further in the game things just doesn't seem to flow well to my own experience. It makes it feel its more like a time sink than an eventful experience.

I might give it a another go when I have too much time in my hands and not much better to do, but for now I can't recommend this game to people who like to have a flow to a game. At least that is how I see it myself. Turn Based games might be putting me off more than I would have expected.

It will help you learn the Hiragana and Katakana symbols used in Japanese.

After learning the symbols you can do a challenge which depending the JPLT difficulty you choose. It will test your reading and writing it in romanji in a short time frame. So the game forces you slightly to be faster which I can appreciate.

After writing the romanji succesfully it will give you a translation of it in english.

So do know that this helps you in building a foundation and maintaining it for an entry level.

However this game does not help you how to build sentences or what the rules of certain symbols are when using it in sentences. But do this long enough and you might recognize what the subject of a spoken conversation in Japanese is.

And I emphasis on spoken, because written Japanese is loaded with kanji, and that is a beast of its own.

Long story short. If you want to be able to get a grasp of how these symbols are read and build a modest vocabulary. This is a good way of doing it.

Last thing to add. It gives you a pronunciation of the individual words at introduction, but it won't give you pronunciation of entire words. Be careful with that, because you might accidentally know it correctly in its written form but not in pronunciation.
