So I'm not sure what happened with the developers, but it seems as if a bunch of hacks took over who don't have a clue what they're doing. They set a shortcut up to be "Shift + Tab". If that doesn't highlight their ineptitute, I don't know what will. Even worse, the developers are trying to deny it. However I have proof.

If you enable the Steam console, and use the command download_depot 388080 388081 Download 6064703498141694207 and then open it, then close, delete it
Then download 4720541615781781416. That was the version the shortcut was introduced. Open it, close it and delete it.

Then open the most recent version of Borderless Gaming, you'll see that your shortcut is indeed set to "Shift + Tab.".

The developers have lied constantly about this.

As a reward for reading this review, this is how to get the older version of Borderless gaming you know and love before whatever the hell happened here.

Open Steam Console. If you type steam://nav/console into your browser, you can open it easily.

Type in download_depot 388080 388081 8142587286395901181

Locate the installed file. It's usually located at Steam\steamapps\content\app_388080\depot_388081

You can open it manually, or copy it directly into the Borderless Gaming folder.
If you want to launch the game through steam, copy it into the same directory as Borderless Gaming after deleting the entire contents of that folder. Make the file read only, so that Steam can't update it.

Success :)

Thanks for reading this review/instruction guide.

Sadly after 3 hours of trying to get the game to not crash, the developer will not allow a refund as I've spent over 2 hours on the game. As such, I will be rating the game as a negative.

I'd probably avoid this until it leaves early access.. Oh.. Damn it's not an early access title. ♥♥♥♥. That's really not good guys.

This review will be padded alot just to avoid spoiling. There WILL BE END GAME SPOILERS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE REVIEW.

100 Endings.

So one of this games big draws is the 100 endings. There is information you get and mysteries that get introduced on nearly every playthrough. There are a couple of paths that require you to get information from other timelines.

It would take a master storyteller to weave all of the introduced plots together into an interesting final ending.

...

Sadly this task was too large for Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi. There are a bunch of hanging plot threads, new concepts introduced at the very last minute, only to be never addressed, new characters brought in to just magically solve plot issues and introduce items that never get a use.

The next part of the review talks about the endings and such. If you don't want to be spoiled, leave the review now.

The biggest problem, and the reason why I am giving this game a not recommended is because the whole issue with escaping the loop is never successful. There is one ending that it seems to be the case, but the game does exactly what it does on other timelines, meaning you never actually escaped and theoretically went back to day 2.

There's also certain things about the satellite that are never answered, even on the endings where you go back there, a woman in white which gets mentioned in 2 timelines and then never shows up again, there's the mention of "Variants", which is a whole one timeline that gets talked about and then nothing ever gets done with it. Another one has mention of a chip that has designs to a machine that can travel both through time and through realities.. Never comes back up.

Games like this are designed to have a "True Ending", for the sake of closure. After completing all achievements I am left feeling frustrated and empty.

Other games made by Kotaro Uchikoshi have had some interesting mechanics when it came to timeline shenanigans. I was looking forward to seeing what happened once completing all 100 routes.

Maybe a 3rd version of the timeline that can freely use information from all previous timelines? Or one where there's a bunch of travelling back and forward, up and down, as suggested by the chip.

How about a single timeline that explores after you've successfully completed the mission and then made it back to the space station, which has had hints dropped that things aren't good up there..

The answer is a big fat nothing. A massive waste of potential buildup.

I still have one achievement before 100%ing the game, a tedious gift giving mechanic that seems to only give details you already have learnt from the other timelines which can make no sense depending on the timeline you achieve the friendship rank in. That is the only reason for any additional time on this review.

If you don't mind a blue balled ending, the game is great, wait for a deep discount.

A great game to pass time while waiting for a real Persona game.

I've completed the game in its entirety two times on Hard difficulty and for the most part I thought it was a fine game. For the most part.

It's a standard fantasy setting game that sticks far too close to the typical tropes. I saw the majority of twists coming about 10 hours before they were revealed and then the game tried to play it off as if it were a huge shock. For the most part the story follows a quite typical fantasy story. Questing, adventuring, gaining renown, it just feels as if its running through a cliche checklist. The magic system seems both underexplored and over explained, while also being completely unfathomable. So many elements get thrown at you, but nothing is ever actually followed up on.

The characters on the other hand were mostly well rounded and likeable, even if some probably deserved more screen time than they got, like Lina.

Some of the characters stories were quite sad, the Fakers being a surprisingly sad tale for the most part.

In theory, synthesis skills could work well.. in theory..

My biggest issue with Metaphor it doesn't do anything polished with its ideas

The job system is great, until you need to wait until the last dungeon of the game to unlock a class because of a social link being stopped until then.
The synthesis skills are completely pointless as I only managed to get the achievement for 50 on my second playthrough on the last day when I grinded for them.
The field combat is very clunky and feels like a downgrade to what you get in Persona games. At least they let you do the Earthbound thing where you can insta kill weak enemies, but I'm not praising a game for taking an idea from a 30 year old game.
The random weather causing turn icons to stop, which could be remedied by paying 20 fish seems like a pathetic joke only designed to make the game feel more tedious.

But the game was still a fun time, despite my complaints.

I wouldn't say this is anywhere near the level of a Persona game, but its a great way to pass the time until the real Persona 6 comes out.

ADDITIONALLY: ♥♥♥♥ THE SOUND DESIGNER WHO MADE THE "START RUNNING" SOUND EFFECT.

Half way through the second dungeon, I had to permanently mute the voice audio just to make running around a dungeon tolerable. I have no idea what art school reject made that sound effect, but I hope they never work in the industry again.

After playing Wildlands, I thought this might be fun. No, it's utter garbage live service trash. Avoid like the plague.

I bought this game a while ago, refunded due to crashing.

Then I got this game in the latest choice bundle and after 2 missions, CTD.

This developer does not seem interested in improving the stability of their game.

A bit buggy and could have used a bit more time in the oven, but fun enough. NG+ is completely pointless though, there's no real reason to do it.

Early Access Review
Robbed of a 500 dollar card by a NPC who couldn't pathfind a mostly empty store to the cash register.

There is early access and then there's this. This is Pre EA, this is Alpha, if not pre-alpha.
