Edit 1:

With the patches the game now seems to run a bit better and in my most recent play session I have not crashed out once. But I did experience a disconnect during a mission.

The gameplay is fun, though the progress made towards the war goal is minuscule and makes it feel like it is not worth even making a note of.

With more time in game it has improved further, i still don't agree with the warbond store working as it does, or with the super credit systems.

The devs are listening to player feed back and making changes and balances to things.

Original review:

I don't like the fact that there is a fully functioning cash shop to buy armour with real money options for the tokens needed. ( Which are on a time limited rotation, predatory tactic.) If it was purely cosmetic then i wouldn't care. But different armours give bonuses.

The unlock system is mixed. There is a warbond system that uses medals earned in missions and is locked behind medals spent. So you have to progress through it like a battle pass. It has weapons, armour, victory emotes, character card backgrounds and boosters which are like passive buffs that apply to your whole team.

Then there is the Premium warbond. Which is basically a day one DLC that locks weapons behind it and functions the same as above, using the same resources. This again is something i despise as why is there a day one dlc when the game was so broken at launch?

I'm leaving my recommendation as no until things improve. Their patches to fix some crashes are not enough to sway my original outlook.

I have enjoyed playing the game. Though after completing the story I am disappointed there is no new game plus where you can keep your levels and unlocks to take back through again. I wanted go through again to see if the choices made a difference for the ending but really don't want to start from scratch so won't be doing it.

I'd probably wait for the game to go on sale in it's current form!

I enjoyed the first game and have been enjoying this one too. Varied number of builds but you are limited in the number of trait points you get unlike the first game so you can't just fill all the traits up and have everything. Combat feels good, I am still using a gun i got at the start of the game because i haven't found anything i prefer yet. Only thing I would want is the option to see the stats of a weapon if it was the same rank as the one I currently have equipped. Currently if you get a weapon it shows its base stats at level 1 and obviously you have no idea what it's stats will be at level 20/10 so can't compare it to your main weapon without upgrading it using a lot of resources.

I attempted to play this on my steam deck as well, do not believe the steam deck verified check mark. On lowest everything I have been getting 16-18 fps stood still in town. Literally unplayable, wait for future updates. How they got steam deck verified is beyond me.

The good:
- I enjoy playing the game. Killing heretics is fun, especially with friends.
- Bolter go boom boom boom.
- Scanner go beep borp.
- Powersword go swoosh swoosh.

The bad:
- They introduced a fully functional cash shop for cosmetics ( Bundles where you have to buy a £15.99 currency pack minimum to get one bundle in a £40 game?!?) at launch, meanwhile things like crafting and other features that were supposed to be in are not.
- The bundle purchases sit at 2400 premium currency. The pack of currency closest to this amount is 2100 and the next highest is 4500 ( Meaning you still only get one purchase before having to buy more.) A predatory tactic to get people to buy more premium currency.
- No cross character progression. The gear and crafting materials you get only work on the character you found them on.
- Weekly contracts which take a fair bit of time to complete only apply to the character you do them on. Want to play all 4 characters? Enjoy grinding 30-50 hours a week to complete all the contracts on the 4 launch characters.
- Missions feel a bit similar, you are scanning something, or waiting for a hack, or slapping poo demons, plugging containers into consoles and every mission is basically a mix of these elements with the map being a set dressing. Oh and you only get to choose from a mission board of pregenerated missions, No choosing a map and selecting the hardness ect with modifiers. Grimoires and scriptures are not in every map either, it is random if they are present and the reward are meh.
- Gunners can be annoying, you find a group of them and just get suppressed out of existence, you can't move or aim to kill them and can struggle to get behind cover.
- The store in which you buy new guns and trinkets refreshes once every hour and often doesn't have a good mix of choices. With the lack of crafting it makes getting a new weapon unlock for your character literal RNG.
- Enemies randomly appear behind you and stab you in the back. You can't run from enemies either, they just catch up to you with speed hacks and guess what? Stab you in the back.

Final thoughts

Game has potential but in it's current form you should wait for it to be on sale, especially if Fatshark are going to try chum the water with more of this micro transaction garbage. I don't like to leave negative reviews but here we are. It is up to Fatshark as to where they decide to point this ship now, I hope they take player feedback seriously and take a hard look at what they are doing.

Supposed to have a conquest mode, it isn't a separate game mode option you just have to turn on the dlc AI in the options to have it enabled.

Hope the rest of it actually works.

Very short, 3 areas. One boss. This should not be out of early access. Do not buy at full price.

The game claims to be procedurally generated but it is not. The map is always the same, the only thing that currently changes is how you get through a door. Sometimes it needs cogs. some times you blow it up. Some times there is poison gas. Does not deserve the tag procedurally generated.

Early Access Review
Spent 8 hours working on a Chinook helicopter. 6 of those hours were spent watching it do weird ♥♥♥♥ and blow up. 2 hours spent actually flying it, then experiencing weird ♥♥♥♥ and blowing up.

10/10 would recommend.

I have played this game since closed beta and it has evolved a lot since it's humble start. So many new tile sets, missions, warframes and mechanics. This game is quite possibly the best free to play game i have ever played, it's micro transactions are not intrusive and there is no pay to win to speak of. It is pay to get early, most of the time you can grind out a warframe or weapon with ease. You can also earn the paid currency via trading with other players, selling mods or warframe/weapon parts you don't need. You can get discount offers for premium currency through the daily login rewards. With a 50% off voucher you get some real value for money.

I would recommend for new players investing in reactors for warframes, weapon or warframe slots. Cosmetics are nice but not great for advancing. To reach higher mastery ranks you need to level weapons and warframes up to level 30. Once you have done that you will have to sell the weapons or warframes to make room for any future ones you get until you can invest in more slots.

This game is quite fun for the PVP, the story itself is pretty meh. The pvp is completely balanced as proven by my video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VcgVsCoTV0
