An amazing and unique RPG experience. This indie game definitely shines as one of the most outstanding pieces of work I have ever seen from an indie developer. If you like RPG's in general then give this a try.

Orcs Must Die is easily my favorite downloadable title for 2011. Why? Because it takes classic tower defense and makes something new, innovative, and fun out of it. The game blends third person action with tower defense strategy creating a very unique experience. The game is very well designed on that regard, meaning that it is impossible to beat a level using only traps or only spells (you must use both). You play as a War Mage able to use spells and weapons to stop the Orcs from entering the Rift. You also have the ability to lay traps throughout the environment. Each trap is uniquely designed and offers different gameplay elements. Some examples of traps are tar traps to slow enemies, swinging maces, spike traps, arrow wall traps, etc. You play a good amount of levels progressing through a very simple but entertaining storyline. Overall, Orcs Must Die offers a very new and unique experience for Tower Defense fans. To put it simply, if you like tower defense, GET THIS GAME!

Magicka is definitely a unique indie game. It may look like a typical isometric RPG game, but it is nothing of the sort. It is an action adventure game with up to 4 player co-op. You play as a mage. You have 8 elements which you combine to make a LARGE variety of spell combinations. For instance, you can use the shield element to make a basic shield or you can combine it with fire to make a fire shield. There are many possibilites for the spell combinations making the combat have some depth. Not only that but the environment matters as well. You can get wet from going into water making your lightning spells backfire. You can use your ice spells to freeze water in the environment in order to walk on it. This provides a better gameplay experience for the player. The new recently added PvP is also a lot of fun. Though it has typical deathmatch and team deathmatch, the spell variety can be exciting when facing other players. Overall, Magicka is a great game and is worth the money.
