Gated progression is really, really obnoxious and actively hinders any enjoyment you can get from this game. It's set so the level cap increases every week or so, making it so obtaining gear feels painfully pointless. Was having fun until i hit the current level cap and realized the game was built in a way so any and all progression you make will become obsolete weekly. Incredibly stupid design.

The game is unreasonably easy, and lets you scale infinitely on top of that. I'd have to intentionally hold myself back to get any form of challenge, which is sad, as this game could be a lot of fun if you actually had to think about what items and balls you are using.

This is a an ARPG designed by people who have never played or enjoyed an ARPG before. It forces you basically build a specific arsenal for each different area, and you never feel like you've actually made anything work together.

It's also at corporate slop levels of oversimplification, with barely any equipment that feels built to work together besides "this broad category of weapon deals +25% more damage" when wearing certain armor sets.

You WILL get stunlocked. This is unavoidable. attempting to dodge is an exercise in futility if you are playing solo on the harder difficulties.

It very clearly was built to milk the minecraft IP, as its rife with DLC and battlepasses.

I loved this game, which is sad, because the devs stopped working on it DESPITE promising more content and throwing all promises and players' trust toward them away.

As everyone else has said, it's inferior to Dungeons Of The Endless. The strategy is gone, the difficulty is gone, but it looks pretty; i guess.

Turrets don't have variety, you just need one of each element or so, upgrade them, and ta-da, you've beaten the game.
You get waaayyyy more production than you need, enemies get stun-locked really easily, and the bosses are jokes. Honestly, you don't even need Light damage, all the light enemies chase heroes around or don't deal enough damage to be a problem.
Your heroes can easily camp enemy spawns, meaning of the 4-6 that exist in a stage, 3+ of them may as well as not exist. if you do it this way, you can easily have 300+ production for the core, and just fill each room with turrets during the boss-fight.
The characters aren't really all the unique from each other, and neither are the guns.
Playing rock-paper-scissors with the elements isn't even all that needed; it just speeds up your ability to kill things rather than making it possible.
You do not need to use the characters abilities. Once again, it just speeds things up rather than being something that you need to juggle like in more difficult games.
The only bit of meta-progression you need is the ability to have 3 heroes rather than just 2, and that's only if you are playing single-player.

I don't usually write reviews. I don't think my opinions on games have the ability to help others make their decisions, considering i like to intentionally do things blind, in stupid ways, or alone when the game is built for multiplayer. This is is one of the few times i think writing a review could actually help someone decide whether or not to buy a game without tainting their view of it with my rose-tinted glasses. That's how disappointed i am with this game.

To Amplitude: Do not take my review as pure negative, angry, nostalgic-for-DotE nonsense. If you fix my complaints, which i KNOW you can do, as you've done it MULTIPLE times before, I'll write a proper positive one of equal or greater depth than this, and likely buy 2-3 more copies to "help" my friends understand why i like your studio. This game could be awesome. It just needs a bit more to it. Don't give up.

I like it, but don't even think about buying this unless you buy all of it's DLC. It will get boring fast, and the game would feel basic. It just isn't worth it's price to me.

:Edit: When the game was on sale, i finally decided to buy all the DLC, and I see all the same problems Civ 5 had, with the most important one being that It isn't fun to play against an AI who can only win by cheating. The AI is still so stupid as to practically give you the game on lower difficulties, and on higher ones, the only way to win is to abuse it.
For those that don't know, the AI in Civ is only made more difficult by giving them various bonus to start off with, such as multipliers for their income, production, science, etc. It is also made to be dramatically more likely to declare war on you, and dramatically less likely to form alliances with you. The alliance part isn't really a problem, as the alliances are usually borderline useless anyways, and the war thing can be annoying at best. The real problem comes from the fact they just get waayyy more product and science than you, so you are basically never going to get any useful wonders unless you take them by force, which doesn't leave you with very many options on how to play. While both 5 and 6 have around six different ways to win, but the only ways that are remotely viable are conquest and science. The others will more or less happen by accident on the lower difficulties, and vanish with a puff of smoke on the higher ones. The game forces you to focus on conquering at least 1-2 of the AI if you want to have a remote chance of winning, so no more religious or culture-focused builds for you. I get that a lot of people like the war in civ, but i just find it really, really boring and the AI being absolutely inept just makes that worse. If they actually improved the AI from how it was in Civ 5, i would have changed by review to a positive one, but the only interesting thing that can happen is Gandhi turning the world into the one from the fallout series, but that was something that happened in Civ 4, let alone being new to 6.

Oh, i should probably mention i actually like the fantastical things like the heroes and the secret societies. I get that some people find it a bit immersion breaking because it goes off the historical script, but to me it's just as unrealistic as Genghis Khan, Ramses II, and Theodore Roosevelt fighting over Mount Fiji. It's kind of hard to keep adding new things and keep the game following history. I say let them go insane with historical fantasy. It's still a fun way to learn bits of history, and honestly, i find that myths and legends far better ways to see what the cultures were like than fancy boats and buildings. Not to mention you can disable it if you really don't like it.

I really don't want to get into multiplayer balance either, so i'll just as it's just as unbalanced as the rest of the Civ games and leave it at that. Sorry for more or less turning my one paragraph review into a rant, but i hope it helps those that honestly care about reading review before buying a game.

Game doesn't auto-update cloud, so i've lost almost everything. Cannot recommend the game on that note.
