Probably the best intergalactic factory building, exploratory, technically engineered masterpieces of the genre for a long time to come.

One of the greatest Simulators to date. Super accurate flight modelling and implementation of Blade Element theory really shines for aircraft performance. Great visuals, great addons, really brings out a true flight experience.

Fun game. Lots of potential to fill the gap between what CoD and Battlefield have to offer, while providing its own unique twist.

DTG have hit the Flight Simulation genre running.

Initial Setup
I was absolutely surprised from the get-go how stunningly this game performed. I've dabbled with Flight Sims previously, but Flight Sim World has really allowed a smooth transition into a more serious manner of Flight Simulation. The introduction missions, easy-to-learn and setup controls paired with ongoing compatibility additions with equipment really make for a welcoming experience. My Thrustmaster T16000 set was easily configured and I was flying in no time.

Flight Experience
Loading into my first flight was quick and easy. I chose my plane (beloved Seneca), selected my destination in the Flight Planner and even adjusted my fuel and payload to add to the experience. I set the weather to an average fair conditions day. The cold-and-dark checklist is fantastic for newbies to each aircraft. They really allowed me to get a grasp of starting and eventually shutting down the aircraft. Controls are responsive and realistic. All operable facets of the aircraft models worked exactly as expected. The fantastic, tedious design of each aircraft really shows. Each plane has a very high fidelity model like you've never seen before - each and every one look amazing. My one suggestion - an issue every flight sim runs into - is to improve upon ATC and surrounding AI. While surrounding AI are smarter than any stock AI I've experienced, I've love to see an emphasis put on them along with ATC.

Weather
With the implementation of TrueSKY weather, no flight is the same. Having to fly around (or through if you're brave enough) thunder storms, blizzards, heavy shears makes for a truly immersive flight. TrueSKY will only continue to improve and add to this wonderful immersive flight facet. Weather affects aircraft performance as it would in the real world - colder outside air temps will naturally improve performance, for example, while a hot day would burden it. Weather is an important factor to get right in a Flight Sim and FSW have nailed it. As it stands, there is no similar weather experience - and I can see it only getting better as improvements are made.

Graphics and Overall Performance
The graphics in FSW are outright glorious to gawk at. The graphical teams really did a number. Reflections, weather, shine, cockpit fidelity all look gorgeous. The sounds of each aircraft also sound accurate and realistic - an issue many Flight Sims have to start with (and continue to do so). Performance has been spectacular on my 1060 6gb. To my knowledge there's optimization tweaks in the pipeline - I'm already experiencing fantastic performance and I can only imagine what the future holds. I would definitely like to see a V-Sync feature as well as more in-depth graphical options however.

In Summary...
  • Fantastic performance on first start. No issues setting up my flight controls or figuring out what goes where.
  • Intuitive cold-and-dark program for newcomers to each craft. I hope this is expanded in the future.
  • TrueSKY adds weather immersiveness you can't experience with any other sim out there.
  • High fidelity models coupled with amazing graphical capabilities make for a truly beautiful flight sim.
  • Performance has been fantastic. Haven't run into any memory leaks/issues. Efficient graphical usage, truly plug-and-play in that regard.
  • Overall for such a new Flight Sim I'm extremely impressed and satisfied with my experience and applaud the teams for making something truly great. FSW has the potential to be THE go-to Flight Sim easily blowing away competitors down the line.

    Give it a go!
