Every element of this game is currently broken (and considering it is DICE that fact will never change no matter how many attempts at patching it). Do not spend money on this pathetic cash grab.

The audacity of the developer to charge $15 for this mess is almost admirable. This checks all of the boxes for things you should not do with post launch content for a video game. Locking the "real ending" behind a paywall, forced stealth sections, reusing the same areas multiple times, enemies that are actively obnoxious to fight, violently killing off the protagonist , and pulling a "it was all a dream" style twist .

After the final cutscene played the developers logo stays on screen while a bunch of stock glitch effects are overlaid. This went on for so long that I eventually had to search whether this was a bug or intended only to find out it is intentional and mashing E during this will cause it to eventually play a rather tasteless joke ending cutscene that completely clashes tonally. This DLC also rivals Spec Ops: The Line when it comes to obnoxious, heavy handed "feel bad about your actions" commentary. The protagonist (and by extension you the player) is supposed to feel guilt for something they canonically had zero involvement in. There is a reason the phrase "don't shoot the messenger" exists, just replace messenger with delivery driver in this particular instance.

Overall I strongly recommend not wasting your time with this DLC. Play through the base game, maybe check out the Riot mode DLC for a bit, and call it good there. This DLC has left such a sour taste in my mouth that I no longer want to even bother replaying the base game in NG+ mode.

Gameplay is a bit weak at the start but once you get your knock off Dead Space kinesis and a few upgrades the gameplay actually becomes quite enjoyable. At first I thought it was odd how heavily the game focused on melee despite copying so many other elements from Dead Space but once you get used to the dodging/melee/using your gun to finish combos that is when things kind of click and it starts to become a lot of fun to clear rooms full of enemies without taking a single hit.

On the flip side though the game has a terrible story, some truly awful writing and character performances (Karen Fukuhara gives a genuinely awful performance that actively makes the game worse), one of the worst final bosses of any game I've played in years, and some pretty spotty performance even on my hardware. Thank you AMD for forcing FSR only instead of the objectively superior DLSS, at least fans corrected this with a mod.

Despite all of my many complaints I would overall still recommend the game (only when it is heavily discounted though) if you are someone who thinks gameplay is the most important aspect in what makes or breaks a video GAME.

Remember when video games were intended to be fun, enjoyable experiences and not tedious slogs? Me neither.

A solid platform to enjoy a wide variety of tabletop games. Hopefully something can be done to clean up the recent off topic review spam.

A significant improvement over RE7 and the recent remakes, RE Village certainly isn't perfect but is a level of quality the series hasn't reached since 2005 with the release of RE4. It is probably for the best that Capcom seems to want everyone to forget the announced, but repeatedly delayed, Re:Verse that was to be included with this title.

Resident Evil 7 is one of the weakest titles in the entire Resident Evil franchise, and that is saying something when titles like ORC and Umbrella Corps exist. From a purely gameplay standpoint the first person perspective is an interesting change of pace that works decently well. That is about the only compliment I can give it.
The story is awful. There is not a single redeeming part of it. The dialogue is awful. The characters are awful (certain characters just look disgusting and I don't mean the intended ones, mainly characters like Mia and Eveline). Towards the end you get a meaningless choice between which character to save that the game essentially makes for you: pick the "canon" choice or we kill off the other and force the canon choice upon you along with a bad ending as punishment. The "evil magic little girl" trope is genuinely terrible and should never be the focus of your story. Especially not for a series as well established as Resident Evil.
Probably the biggest sin this game commits is not allowing you to skip all the scripted, non interactive scenes used as padding throughout the game. If I could get straight back into the gameplay as quickly as possible I could salvage some enjoyment out of replays but that is not the case.

Overall in a better state than launch but improvements could definitely still be made.
