To put it lightly, Helldivers 2 has been less-than-stellar with it's functionality as of late. Of what I've seen personally, there are:
- Consistent game crashes
- Audio Glitches
- Enemies being completely unbalanced ( In reference to the Rupture strain, an overpowered variant of the Terminids which wasn't pulled from the game until earlier this week due to backlash)
- Significant performance issues

In short, this game needs some love. Recently, Arrowhead has stated they will be focusing on these issues. While I do believe them, and hope they follow through, I will not recommend this game until they address these issue. New players experiencing the game in this state with no prior knowledge of the state of Helldivers 2 will gain a horrible experience, and that is something I do not wish upon a new player.

----

Helldivers 2 is a cooperative, tactical drop-in-drop-out third person shooter. One way I like to think of it is if you took the concept of Foxhole, MAG, Starship Troopers (the movie, not the game) and threw it in a blender. There's more that goes into the smoothie, but it nails the Satire it's aiming for perfectly and the gameplay has a nice enjoyable 20-40 min mission loop.

The game is driven by a Game Master (Currently Joel) who coordinates the enemies, and from what I understand, helps drive the live service experience by actively affecting the macro gameplay (planet invasions/defenses/etc) and micro gameplay (Joel can observe a mission and affect it in real time). This stands the game out from the traditional live service games by leaning more into a game that feels "alive", as the developers aren't just creating content, but creating a narrative with the players through this interaction.

The game, however, isn't without it's controversies.
- Servers can be a bit bogged down - the developer did not nearly expect the success it had.
- Sony (the Publishers) has previously overstepped it's boundaries previously, initially not stating the game require a PlayStation Network Account, and then attempting to require it - which met fierce backlash from the community.

Is the game good? Absolutely. Will it continue to be so? I hope so.

I didn't expect to like this game as much as I did.

A rogue-light game with a surprisingly touching story.

I have a chicken hat I refuse to take off. My fireteam says I have a problem. My answer is always the same.

Tutorials are kinda wonky, but the community is active, devs are constantly updating and they plan to have a slew of updates and expansions to the game. It plays awesomely with a keyboard/mouse, but in my opinion a controller makes it feel awesome! No need for a flight sim setup - I'm using a 360 controller for it.

So, this is going to sound sappy, but this little machine has been a favorite. I understand if Valve will be focusing on the Android application more, but I still love this little box.

I grew up playing games on the PC. This device helped me expose my parents to a media they had never truly experienced. My mom, a voracious reader and fan of fantasy and stories, got to experience games via this little device. We played some of my (and now her) favorites from this machine - The Witcher games, Fallout, Assassin's Creed, Dishonored, and more. To be frank, this machine has tempted me to start streaming. I've been a coward about it, but I've been very tempted.
I'm just glad this device allowed me to expose my parents to something I enjoy.

Thanks, Valve. Thank you, Gabe.

Keep being awesome to gaming.
