Early Access Review
I love the concept of this game! It is so creative and unique, and I just love the art style. There is nothing quite like bringing down a huge enemy and mailing their parts back home.

This game definitely has some bugs, but you can tell they are totally working hard on it and fixing it up. Part of the reason I love Early Access is that I know I'll be able to play the game first and have an influence on how it heads down the home stretch. Even if there are bugs and imbalances, that's fine, as long as they are working it out! And these folks are, give 'em some love, everyone! Great game.

They should churn out more game content for this now, I'd 100% buy it. I'd easily pay more money for more scenarios/stories.

They put a lot of systems in that are great for a thought-provoking, choices-are-important game. They implemented these choices in very simple, but very powerful ways. For instance, when you are camping, your companions can bond with each other. I ran into a situation where I needed to get rid of one of them. The other one freaked out and begged me not to get rid of his buddy. He said he'd leave, too, if I got rid of his friend.

I had the follwing options:

- backing off
- convincing the person to stay and let their friend go
- or getting rid of them both

For fun, I first tried backing off. The person who was begging me was so thankful, they burst into tears

Then, shortly after I chose the option of getting rid of the first one and convincing the second to stay. I had to make a roll, and I made it. The character stayed while the other left. He took a morale hit and I felt like a serious jerk.

Lots of great, system-based choices like that in this game. Made it a very interesting and engaging play. My own game, Epic Tavern, struggles hard to implement systems like these. These developers do it so elegantly, my hat is off to them, 100%. It's an inspiration.

Def made me want to play it in new game plus mode, to make different kinds of decisions, build different kinds of teams.

Other stuff:

- They removed the old "race" system for competing with other adventurers for reknown, which is both good and bad. I didn't feel like a crummy imperialist trodding all over other cultures just for my own statue. But there also wasn't the intense pressure to play to "win", which is good. But boy, did it feel good to win, in the rare cases I did in the original.

- That's another point, this game is a whole lot easier than the first one. It has just enough danger to be enjoyable, but it doesn't beat you to a pulp and rob you of all hope.

- I loved the art of the first game, but I'd say I love this style even better. Kind of reminds me of Where's Waldo. Tons of cool detail and vibrant colors.

- I like the combat system a lot better, they worked in a whole bunch more choices and modifiers, which helped to soften things up a bit. Combat in the first game was unrelentingly brutal and just kind of sapped the fun out of it. We get it, you guys are tough and wins should be earned. Sometimes, it's just fun to have fun in a game though! I appreciated the changes.

100% solid recommend, y'all should buy this. Give these people money! Encourage them to do more great things!

Awesome game. It's a tribute to its systems design how different it feels when you play with all the different characters you unlock. The controls are pretty darn tight, too, but just loose enough for things to get chaotic when you're in the middle of a huge melee. It's just a whole lot of fun to play and I highly recommend it. Thanks for making the game, devs!

I really, really like this game. I played all the way through the campaign and got the ending that only 1.6% percent of the players got. Pretty cool!

I'm a huge fan of Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld, and I see this game as very akin to those. It abstracts a lot of the serious management aspects of DF and RW (rubbish piles, building each wall and floor, hauling, etc) in very interesting ways and allows you to concentrate more on the larger cycle aspects of story progress and world exploration. Come to think of it, the best way to put it is that Judgment: Apocalypse is like a super "Metal" version of your favorite base builder survival sim.

Its tech tree is really compelling and a bit addictive, as is the case with most games in this genre. It is, however, at times a bit confusing and doesn't seem to be as progressively rewarding as I'd expect. Some of the weapons, for instance, at the end of the tech tree aren't as compelling as some of those I get earlier in the weapon tree. They also have weird stuff like cotton being an endgame tech unlock, which may make sense in some way I don't entirely understand, but it feels like there are some missed opportunities, as the world's setting provides for so many cool opportunities for tech and materials. Probably just the result of layers of development. It's a small quibble for such an enjoyable game, though.

The combat is pretty cool, if a bit basic. After I got the hang of it, I felt like I did get a bit better at it, but I still felt like it could be random and slightly difficult to control, at times. I feel like the devs did a good job of putting so many good options in, and I feel like, if they keep improving on it, it'll be one of the better combat engines out there for this type of game. If I had to ask for a feature, I'd probably ask for some kind of formation mechanic to keep my people organized as they approach their targets.

It is sometimes a bit rough around the edges, but nothing at all that detracts from its appeal. As a matter of fact, I find the fact that it is not super polished to be comfortable and endearing. It feels like real people who really care made it and put their passion into it.

In all, I'd strongly recommend this for fans of Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress who want a game that's a truly "Metal" version of those classics. I mean, what can be more Metal than killing werewolves and ghosts with Uzis and glocks? Give it a try, you will be surprised at how awesome it is.

This is probably one of my top five games of all time. I can come back to it over and over again, and it's just as fun as the first time I played. A great mix of strategy, operations, and tactics, if you are a fan of games that make you think, you'll love it. These folks deserve your money.

Amazing graphics, great concept, fun gameplay. I get the complaints about the combat getting kind of repetitive, but I DEFINITELY think this game is worth the money does NOT receive the amount of thumbs-downs and criticism it is getting. The devs clearly seem like they have put their heart into this game, and definitely sound like they are listening to and will be responsive to criticisms.

Keep in mind that you don't have to "thumbs down" a game, if you have criticisms and you want it to improve. Thumbs-downs, at the end of the day, have disproportionate weight really bad knock-on effects of a team's income/chance of survival and should be reserved for games that are really so crappy that you want to see them die. It's usually good enough to put thoughtful criticism into a thumbs-up review. They'll read it, and will be plenty motivated to improve!

Anyway, I thought the game was definitely plenty good and I'm sure it will improve, as time goes on. I'm glad I spent my money on it, and will likely come back to it time and time again to unlock all the characters and get all the achievements. Thanks, devs!

I highly recommend this game. I've been playing in for quite some time, and it is a great feeling when you know the developers are responsive, kind, and constantly working on updating the game.

It's one of my favorite games to have running on the side while I'm working or playing an MMO. If you are reading this review because you're considering giving it a shot, definitely do! Super fun to see your heroes grow and conquer new obstacles. Definitely an ongoing inspiration for my own game!

I LOVE the conceptual approach of this game. It feels like I am directly in the middle of a crazy Adult Swim-style cartoon. If you are the kind of person who likes to play video games while messed up on recreational drugs, THIS MAY BE THE GAME FOR YOU.

The gameplay is pretty badass, too... kind of a mix of pool and mini-golf, if the pool balls were alive and walked around while you are lining up shots, etc. It may sound kind of annoying, the way I worded it, but it's not! It really makes me feel like a badass when I line up the perfect angles on a moving ball to get around an obstacle and into a hole.

Multiplayer is a riot, just imagine the chaos of what I described above and add your buddies all flying around the screen at the same time, and you get what I'm saying.

Definitely worth it, buy as soon as you can!

Super interesting turn-based strategy that goes right for the throat on Rock-Paper-Scissors strategy. Your individual units level up and gain skills/attacks as they improve. There are a few issues with unit targeting (maybe I don't understand how it works?), which I'm sure will be easy to fix.

So far, I love the little characters, the environment, and the story. Everything is very cute and very personable. Like its concept, it doesn't waste any time trying to be super flowery, it just gets right to business.

I really like this game, and can't wait to see how it develops! Great job, team.

Yes, absolutely. This is one of the best games of its type. If you like games anywhere in the neighborhood of what this appears to be after watching some videos or looking at screenshots, buy it! The dev is very active, very smart and won't let you down.
