In its essence this is a interactive movie, the main hook is the Story and how your choices and actions effect the outcome that leads to multiple replayability chances. I really enjoyed that aspect however the story is pushed along by what is one of my most disliked mechanics the Quicktime or Quickchoice event that intrude on moments where your fully engaged in the story searching for clues and trying to discover how events are related. You go to speak to someone and suddenly have to choose a response or mash a key sequence quickly and while obviously these are there to add tensions and add game play elements I felt they broke the immersion a bit. as for looks and sound I had no complaints other than some minor texture popin that i noticed on bigger crowd scenes.

Looks and runs Fantastic on my 3080, Initially for the first hour I was enjoying it.
Then .....I got bored ...really bored. I only really like one weapon the Assault rifle and find all the others mainly garbage health seems really scarce on some runs leading to bombing out really quick.

I guess if you like repeating the same stuff over and over then this is the game for you, for me i swore a lot and then after 4 hours just felt like uninstalling it.

***Update*** Last night I gave Returnal another go and actually made some progress getting past 3 of the bosses in what was a epic run. I did really enjoyed that however once I finally died and lost all my good stuff I again started to get bored really quick so I still cant recommend.

I got this for free with a AMD card, Janky broken mess. Do not buy this in its current state !

Great blast from the past for us oldies that first played Monkey Island on the Amiga. Found it pretty easy and maybe a bit short but still worth every penny.
