God, this game hurt me. I'll probably never play it again, now that I've gotten 100%. But damn me if that wasn't one of the finest metroidvania experiences I've ever had. I haven't felt so accomplished after beating so many of these bosses since first finishing Dark Souls 1 years ago. The music, the art, Hornet's dialog, my son Sherma, and chasing that high of killing another tough-as-nails boss after a dozen tries made all the frustration worth it and then some.

This is probably now my favorite metroidvania of all time, with a huge asterisk on it saying you should not play it until you've played Hollow Knight. Both because Hollow Knight is still an incredible game in its own right that should be experienced in full, and because it will prepare you for Silksong. If you played all the way through Hollow Knight and thoroughly enjoyed yourself, I contend you will find as much to love in Silksong. The only thing you and I may not have in common, however, is about 7 years of waiting between beating Hollow Knight and playing Silksong. Maybe I would think differently playing them back to back. So if the above describes you, and you've just recently played and beaten Hollow Knight, let that accomplishment steep for a bit. Wait until the next big sale to pick up Silksong. Give it a few months, maybe even a year, if you can wait. Then make your pilgrimage to Pharloom.

It's classic CS surf, faithfully recreated in another engine. I've been surfing for years and it feels fantastic. Plenty of development left to go, but I'm already excited for the full release and to see what Marx cooks up for us.

Fantastic game, playable in a weekend. Understands what makes the metroidvania formula so fun. Light on story, but what's there is quite poignant and interesting. As a plus, a randomizer is built into the game, which is always great to see. Highly recommended for fans of the genre.

Super slick, competitive platform fighter for all fans of the genre. Though a bit bare bones in its offerings post-launch, the core game is here and it's so solid that I have to recommend it. Those who love singleplayer content will unfortunately have to wait a while longer as there are far too few gamemodes available, at the time of writing, to hold one's interest for long. But if you're looking to climb the ranked ladder and test yourself against real opponents with top-notch rollback netcode, look no further.

Roguelite DOOM. Satisfying movement, lots to upgrade, difficulty progression. Get it if you like Doom Eternal and any roguelite on the market, highly recommended.

Bloody, satisfying combat, visceral detail, addicting ragdolls to throw off high places. Great game.

A great mystery, fun mechanics, and fantastic writing.

Satisfying when you pull off your carefully-planned heist in 60 seconds. Pretty bare-bones at the moment, but still worth the asking price, IMO.

Destiny 2 will appeal to a certain kind of person who loves a good grind. While not all grinds are created equally in D2, completing any of them feels amazing. Alongside sporting some of the best, most satisfying gun-play I've had the pleasure of experiencing, Destiny 2 has slowly (and somewhat shamefully) secured my GOTY this year.

Got the best ending, cried, and will never play it again out of respect of the characters living within.
