Early Access Review
this would be THE battlefront killer if it had any players, but even if you play with bots you'll find a decade of smooth polish for game that has seamless infantry, tank, and starship action.

both factions seem generic but really, have style, the combat is like quake on the ground and unique in the stars, with the ability to board ships of all sizes, all of which have full interiors

i played this game seven years ago, thought it was a bit janky but good, and I play it now to find something comparable to any AAA game with a full orchestral score

recommend, either for bot lobbies or to play with your friends + bots, for 18 dollars this is a steal

I installed this game because it was free, saw it in PC Gamer, and was exactly the sort of setting that I enjoyed. Being inspired by Suzerain is a plus.

I've put about an hour in, and I haven't been at the edge of my seat for something this thrilling for a long time. I've been sucked in.
This game is a thriller. It's the most exciting features of Suzerain being redone in a horrific setting. If you weren't so immersed it'd be comical. But you're not, and everyone around you and yourself can die. You're thrust into a situation where you're utterly screwed and the Great Leader is such an extreme parody of Stalin he's really his own character. He is a madman, and you are his toy. As the game notes.
How long can you survive in this environment? In this world that opens with nuclear warfare and throws you as leader of an invading army when you don't have any experience? When suddenly you need to maneuver between internal factions, keep the Great Leader from executing you on the spot, and try to keep your family safe?
War of a Madman's Making is relentless. You barely have time to think, much like your character. You're selectively given information that might mislead you, and then your choices are confirmed afterwards when you no longer can commit. The music sets the mood well, you feel like you're stuck in a hellscape with no way out. Excellent game. Incredible game. I can't believe this is free. Play it now and thank me later.
