Quand on joue, on cherche à s'amuser. Pour garantir une expérience multijoueur en ligne optimale, Valve a développé un système anti-triche de pointe qui détecte automatiquement et bannit définitivement les joueurs qui utilisent des programmes de triche ou de hack sur des serveurs sécurisés avec le VAC. Ainsi, aucun joueur ne peut prendre l'avantage injustement ou venir troubler vos parties en trichant
Le système anti-triche de Valve est activé uniquement sur les serveurs signalés par un logo de bouclier et seul Valve est en mesure de bannir un utilisateur à l'aide de ce système. Si les administrateurs de serveur peuvent choisir de bannir des joueurs de leurs serveurs, ils n'ont pas la possibilité de bannir les joueurs à l'aide du système anti-triche. Le système VAC est automatisé : il n'est pas nécessaire de contacter le Support Steam pour signaler la présence de tricheurs.
