Oh and im using it on steam deck
ZenCat 4 Feb, 2023 @ 8:00am
It's been saving my games for the past fourteen hours. Is that normal for adding 3000 games?

I need help about retroarch with steam rom manager.

They recently added the retroarch app to the steam store.

I am trying to configure steam rom manager to load my games with retroarch (which incorporates "remote play") into steam for when my steam deck arrives home to be able to play remote play a tekken 3 apart from showing my friends that I am playing playing and having the rom inside the library as if it were a purchased steam game (very useful since navigating from retroarch is annoying, so being able to search for the rom with the help of SRM incorporating it as one more game inside the library is fabulous) .

But I have a problem when I have configured the whole game does not start when I give it to play from the library (retroarch does not open and nothing happens)

Anyone can help me about this? Thank you
Edward_Carnby_47 22 May, 2021 @ 11:52pm
I generated app list via Retroarch Playtest (steam version) but the titles are added as non-steam games regardless.
Sinec Retroarch allows for steam screenshot uploads, playing times etc. Is there a way to have games from it added as separate thumbnails for the Retroarch ?
Thanks in advance.

@Blank - Yes
Zach K Richards 29 Mar, 2021 @ 5:49am
Is it possible to set up redream with this?
ultraviolet 12 Apr, 2020 @ 11:03pm
Kafuf - I have not set SRM to use Kega Fusion before. Try posting your message in our Discord server to see if anyone has used Kega Fusion there.
Kafuf 2 Apr, 2020 @ 7:29pm
Hey how do you set up Kega Fusion with this? I tried, but it isn't working for me.

Hey Sigismund, if you go over to our discord server we can help you faster. But if you can’t , that’s OK too. Could you please post your parser information . Thanks

Selkie 28 Dec, 2018 @ 12:21pm
Oh, yeah, I already fixed this, sorry for replying so late, I didn't check this for a while, thanks :)
nikongmer 27 Dec, 2018 @ 10:28pm
Haha he's my fav in SMK too. Also, thanks for the help!
ultraviolet 27 Dec, 2018 @ 1:25pm
Nikon- I like your steam avatar , koopa is my favorite in the Snes version of MK. Yes , you are supposed to see it in steam after pressing save app list . Make sure steam is closed when you press save app list . If you still are having problems , post in our Discord server .
nikongmer 27 Dec, 2018 @ 12:00am
After clicking 'Save app list' I'm supposed to then see it on steam, correct? I think I'm doing something wrong.
ultraviolet 19 Oct, 2018 @ 11:08am
Charlotte- did you ever get this fixed ? If not, mention me on the discord server and we can help you out quickly . Thanks
ultraviolet 31 Aug, 2018 @ 8:21pm
-Humans suck, dragons are cool. Please join our Discord server and copy paste that question to the server. Responding back and forth on Discord is much easier and we can fix your problem pretty fast there. If you dont want Discord, thats fine also, I can help you here. What emulator are you using? If you dont respond and I see your question on the Discord server then I know you were taken care of. Thanks
Selkie 30 Aug, 2018 @ 1:17pm
This program is awesome so thanks for that but I have some trouble trying to launch the roms.
I put my SNES, GBA and DS ROMS on steam but for some reason only the SNES ones launch.
The GBA ones gives me this error: "Unsupported file type: -L" and the DS ones launches but instantly closes, if I launch them directly these errors don't happen, any idea of what is causing this? Thanks.
ultraviolet 13 Aug, 2018 @ 4:48am
If there is a incorrectly parsed game, due to the name of the file being wrong etc. Then you would have to Remove the data in the Settings section and then generate a new app list after you correct the file name.
Turnspit 12 Aug, 2018 @ 8:41am
Is it possible to change and manually reparse an incorrectly parsed game?
Arcade Pilot 26 May, 2018 @ 12:08am
I see, thanks Mantis. Either way of getting achievements on Steam or elsewhere is nice, also the monthly game challenges from RetroChievements are a good idea :D
ultraviolet 25 May, 2018 @ 9:46am
Last question addressed on Discord Server . Thanks for posting there . I can help here but there is more support in the Discord Server
WreckWren 25 May, 2018 @ 6:51am
Does anyone know if there's a way to filter the release numbers from your ROMs? Or do I have to do it in Windows before scanning?
Mantis 25 May, 2018 @ 3:17am
Hello ArcadePilot. I didn't intend to cause any confusion, but Retro Achievements is a different thing to Steam and they're completely optional in this software. (Rather, they're not a part of it; you can add a Retro Achievements emulator if you want.)

Retro Achievements is actually a website. They've made their own special versions of some emulators which can connect to your account on the site. They just add some replayability to older games. There's no relation between Retro Achievements and your achievements in retro games on Steam. In fact, your Steam friends won't know about your Retro Achievements unlocks... that is, unless they also have a Retro Achievements account so you can challenge each other.

tl;dr: RA and Steam don't really have anything to do with each other. SRM just helps bridge that gap by allowing you to add games to Steam that will play on your RA emulators seamlessly.
Arcade Pilot 24 May, 2018 @ 11:41pm
Hello, I have a question!! :D So, I have alwayz been a fan of the classic bit games, the real & emulated ones : ) However, bear with me (as I am not very computer lterate), I am confused about : 1. I just found out about the "Retro Achievements" emulator, and would like to know just where those achievements would show up?? (since it's not on Steam) 2. Will this emulator get achievements placed within this Steam app? 3. What about the achievemnts I got on classic games that where available from Steam? Will I look like a Fool now?
!!!
: (
Thank you!
ultraviolet 21 May, 2018 @ 10:32am
Wolf- head over to the discord channel and post your errors there . You aren’t posting the message correctly and are Misquoting it. There isn’t a message that says “please shutdown Steam” by itself . You must be missing something from the message that pops up.
ultraviolet 21 May, 2018 @ 10:29am
SRM works with every emulator and rom that I know of . If yours doesn’t work then please post your error messages to a new thread and I can help. Thanks
Mantis 21 May, 2018 @ 7:40am
Any plans to support the emulators used by Retro Achievements, like Gens? SRM has been great at what it can do, but it would be nice to earn these achievements while I play.
ultraviolet 11 May, 2018 @ 7:11pm
I love it when stuff is misquoted
André 11 May, 2018 @ 3:11am
Does not work. "Please shutdown Steam". But it isnt running XD.
Lulu Rainsong 9 May, 2018 @ 10:36pm
Still works. Very, very well, at that.

USE VISUAL STUDIO CODE OR ANY OTHER MODERN NOTEPAD APP. DO NOT USE NOTEPAD (notepad++ should be fine but YMMV.)
Have issues with shortcuts? Delete these THREE files within \\Steam\Userdata\IDHERE\config:
(for me, my ID was 30546289)
shortcuts.backup
shortcuts.firstbackup
shortcuts.vdf
ultraviolet 23 Apr, 2018 @ 6:36pm
BenjCarter005- Close Steam and Try finding your Steam shortcut file, it will be in a place like this. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\234631346\config\shortcuts.vdf and delete it. Then use SRM to generate a new APP list with Steam still closed. That should fix your issue.
BenjCarter005 22 Apr, 2018 @ 8:10am
Ok so I did that process and the games remain in steam.
BenjCarter005 20 Apr, 2018 @ 11:26pm
That process is what I did yesterday, and the games were still there when I reopened steam. I'll try again later. Thanks.
ultraviolet 20 Apr, 2018 @ 6:24pm
BenJCarter005- Close Steam then go to Settings in SRM. Then press the "Remove!" button and that should be all you have to do to remove the list. Then you can Generate a new list after you have Removed the old one. If that does not work, let me know and we can try some other things.
BenjCarter005 20 Apr, 2018 @ 12:27pm
Ok so I added mame folder then realised mame is crap on retroarch so I want to remove the stuff. I chose delete under parsers and generated list again but the category remains in steam. Can I bulk delete the lot somehow?
ultraviolet 2 Apr, 2018 @ 6:00pm
apass93 - It sounds like you do not have your parser configured correctly for that emulator. Please join our discord and post your parser configuration there. If you don't want to join the discord, that is OK also. Just make a new Discussion thread in this Steam Group with your parser config posted there. Thanks
apass93 2 Apr, 2018 @ 12:45am
Having some trouble launching games, in steam I get an error saying "CDDVD plugin failed to open. Your computer have insufficient resources, or incompatible hardware/drivers. Press OK to go to the plugin configuration", yet games are launched OK when run through PCSX2 as a standalone. Any ideas?
ultraviolet 16 Jan, 2018 @ 5:09am
MegaFayeX - Joining our Discord server is going to be your best resource. There are also people who have made tutorial videos on YouTube.
MegaFayeX 15 Jan, 2018 @ 4:23pm
Is there a better guide or tutorial on how this works? I'm a bit overwhelmed and have way too many questions to ask here.
ultraviolet 13 Jan, 2018 @ 2:30pm
Vikinga- Yes , it works with a steam link the same way it works with the Host PC running Steam.
LaVikiinga 13 Jan, 2018 @ 12:35pm
this can work at Steamlink?
ultraviolet 15 Dec, 2017 @ 6:39am
Anders99 - Please join our discord from the link above and we will be able to help you with any questions you have. If you don't want to join our discord, that is fine also. BUT you will need to create a new Discussion Thread in this steam group with details of your problem. Tell us what retroarch core you are trying to use, what games you are trying to play, what error message you are getting, and so on. Thanks!
Anders99 14 Dec, 2017 @ 4:44pm
I was able to get my games to show in steam but they wont launch into retroarch. I assume I am missing something in the setup but dont know exactly what I am missing. Any help appreciated!
FrogTheFrog 7 Nov, 2017 @ 12:15pm
Best I can do is 9 steps :D (this will be the most basic config for dolphin):

1) Go to "Parsers" page, select "Glob" parser type and set "Configuration title" to whatever you want;
2) Set "Executable" to a path to dolphin.exe;
3) Set "ROMs directory" to where your iso and GCZ files are;
4) Set "Steam directory" to, well, Steam directory (for ex. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam);
5) Set "User's glob" to "${title}.@(iso|GCZ)";
6) Set "Command line arguments" to <--batch --exec "${filePath}"> (without < and >);
7) Select image providers that you want;
8) Go to "Preview" page and click on the "Generate app list" button.
9) Select images you like and save.
mikjames 6 Nov, 2017 @ 6:45pm
Well, Ice was basically broken and entirely unsupported last I checked, would still be using it otherwise. I clicked on the info box for glob, but it's just a bunch of random statements that don't go into detail explaining why a "glob" is even necessary, I've still no idea what is does or why it needs to be there. So let's try something here, because I'm genuinely curious if this is just incredibly easy to use and I'm just missing something bleedingly obvious. I have Steam installed, I have Dolphin installed, I have 8-10 Isos and compressed GCZ files, tell me 5 steps to get them into Steam, because Ice was a 5 step process. 1) Open emulators.txt and add the installed emulators 2) open consoles.txt and list the installed console 3) Run ice to create roms folder 4) Add isos/roms to folder 5) Run ice to load games into Steam. If you can compress your instructions into 5 steps, then you will have a valid argument, I'll eat humble pie, and thank you repeatedly for your patience :)
ultraviolet 4 Nov, 2017 @ 5:32am
(2/2) If users can not figure out how to use SRM on their own or if they run into a bug then we have support for that (discord and this Steam group for example). Please continue using ICE if you like to have a Readme.txt as your support for the program, no one is forcing you to use SRM. I want everyone in the emulation community to use what is easiet for them to manage their files. If that is ICE for you, then please continue to use it.
ultraviolet 4 Nov, 2017 @ 5:30am
I am sorry but you are Definately in the minority on this opinion. The majority of users (including myself ) would much rather a real person help and guide them through understanding something that they can't figure out on their own. That is why the dev is so responsive and supportive of the community and why I am involved with the discord and Steam group. The dev has put a lot of work into integrating a FAQ and an extensive help system built into SRM by having info buttons next to each field of entry. There is a ton of information built into the program already that users can read and use to operate the program without any outside help. (1/2)
mikjames 3 Nov, 2017 @ 12:13pm
Or at the very least give me a damn readme file with an example setup guide for an emulator, I'm not joining some chat server for a damn utility. Keep it simple, or provide a detailed readme, if you have to say "come chat with us and we'll help you out", then you're wasting everyone's time including your own. Wouldn't it just be easier to create a program that is easy to use, or at the very list provide a detailed readme so that you don't have to waste your time providing chat support?
mikjames 3 Nov, 2017 @ 11:59am
I'd just like to be able to launch a program, select my rom folder, select my emu folder, select my Steam folder and hit go. Can that be a thing that we can download, why can't that be a thing that we can download?
